Thank you for the video. It was good to see another similar tune. I found the brown box crossman 10.5s to shoot on par with all but the JSB Monster Redesigns which shoot unbelievably well; 1/2 inch 5-shot groups at 38 versus single holes respectively. My tune is light as well. The 10.5s start at 901 and drop to around 880 when it falls off the regulator at around shot 115. The heavier JSBs are running around 825. I have not shot through a full tank with these due to their higher cost. The FX 10.4x shoot well, as do the original JSB Monsters, but I have not been able to get the Hades to behave at all for me. It definitely likes pellets with a slightly larger head diameter and the Hades feel loose.

Great information! Thank you for adding your feedback. I agree the brown box is good. I plink with just the regular 10.5 heavy domes (might have the word “ultra” in the name). Is you run NSA slugs I have found resizing to .173 (NOE sizing dies) makes a big Difference in accuracy and velocity.

@motorgearhead Thanks for the heads up on the slugs. I haven't tried any slugs in the Avenger. I'd like to tune it down a touch more, but need a lighter hammer spring to get there. I have a .22 Flash pup and a .25 Mrod. I've had good luck with FX Hybrids in the flash pup. It's tuned to shoot JSB 18.1s around 900. I haven't found a slug the Mrod likes, but I haven't tried many. It does shoot the Jumbo Monster Redesigns really well and the Heavies that most .25s like. That being said; I think I am firmly on the regulated train now.

@@diggernash1 - regulated is the way to go if looking for best accuracy. Unregulated guns do have there place if you have trying for max power. But even some of the aea bigbores can be had in regulated trim. The power drops but 450-500 fpe is still enough for deer sized game.

Reg at 1400-1500 - hammer spring ran all the way out (counter clockwise) and then 2 turns in (clockwise). Should see velocity 850ish with 10.5 grn crossman .177 pellet.

@@motorgearhead thanks for the info. I shoot most of my pellets at 1500psi and 2 turns in on the hammesrspring. Just bought a chinese chrono ( has not arived yet) to see if the 177 avenger can schoot slugs.

@@motorgearhead i caught a few pellets in soap. And the skirt diameter was reduced to 4.41mm so the bore is tight. This explaines why most pellets require mor force to load them into the breach. So resizing sounds good. Where to buy one of those resisers. Thanks in advance.

If you fast forward to the end I ran 5 shots (105 shots total) over the chrono. The shots were made with the rifle fill at 2100 psi, Reg set at 14-1500 & 2 turns on the hammer spring. 5 shot avg was 846 fps - 16.7 fpe. I’m guessing the rifle was shooting a little slower at 2100 vs the 4350 fill. I’m guessing starting velocities were approaching 875 fpe? You can see my poi dropping as my shot string gets into higher count. The Avenger is a really great shooting rifle for the $. My latest testing has been with using resized nsa 12.5 grn slugs. My rifle likes them resized to .173”. It will shoot them w/o resizing but it requires very high Reg & fill pressures. In fact I determined the barrel size by measuring slugs that became stuck in the barrel once fill pressure became too low (~3KPSI?). Resized they do great and will run as low as 2000 psi.
