The worst guests tend to be other Hosts who think they are better than you. Boggles my mind. I avoid them now

Sean, other Airbnb hosts often ask us for discounts. We live in the Western US and our fire/house insurance rates have gone from $1500 to $7000 a year. Covid and building materials costs cut into our profits. We charge a very fair rate, our goal is to give middle and working class folks like us a very clean, affordable and nice vacation spot. We don't enjoy haggling and politely say no.

I enjoyed your Hahn story very much. I’ve been using Airbnb for a few years now. I can say that my husband and I always leave the condo or home just as we found it. This nightmare story would be reason enough for me to never be an Airbnb landlord. I’d love to hear more of your stories 😊

AirBnB rentals should all be separate units and certainly not where the host lives! Shared accomodations are always a nightmare. Who as an adult wants to share an apartment with strangers? No way.

There is NO choice in NYC. Even if that is what the host would like. Look up the rules. Different for every location.

Dealing with a psychopath, talking to a psychopath, is psychologically damaging to one’s health. It’s debilitating. Exhausting. I’m happy for you that it’s over

I rented an apartment from a woman who was stabbed in her bed from a horrible domestic violence situation. My family shows up to a filthy condo. She was frantically using watered-down dish soap to wash the sheets. I spent the whole weekend cleaning this condo. When we left I pulled the sheets off to wah them. The mattress pad moved and I could see blood all over the mattress! It was horrifying 😳. I'm just greatful he didn't get out of jail before we left. Also had a psyco that I rented a room too. Found out she gets an order of protection on every roommate she's had in the last 10 years. This didn't come up in the background check. It cost me so much money to get her out. Thank God I got her out before covid. I'm just too shook to rent out a room to anyone else. I need the income but too many people are just nuts!

You said you rented an apt from a woman but in the end you say you don’t wanna rent out to anyone. Which is it? Did you rent a room for yourself or rent it out to someone? I’m confused

Make your cancellation policy hard (first month non refundable) and you'll avoid most of these. Bad guests will NOT rent a place where they lose 3-4K if they mess up.

I don't understand. You decide to rent out half your personal residence to complete strangers, and then are totally surprised when they get on your nerves?

Wow...so glad you were able to get him out. I would be interested in hearing more stories and how you handled the situations. Thanks!

Oh my…..your “worst” guest is nothing compared to ours. We came home to find doors torn off of hinges, broken windows, a boat totally destroyed on our lift, rolls of toilet paper in our pool and raw rotting maggot meat shoved below a grill.

Ok, the adult person not being able to wash their own dishes... yeah, that is like, wtf. But as an AirBnB host, you need to provide working, reliable wifi 24/7. I would be pissed if i'm paying as a guest and the internet is out and the host asks me to "wait until next morning". Um, no, it needs to work.

5:39--You disclosed the whereabouts of your guest. That is actually a violation on a profound level of privacy rights. This is technically called 'doxing.' And the fact that you took glee in the fact that you did not control your animal. And that it excreted biological waste on the bed of your guest is a poor reflection on your character.
@rocky_wang Жыл бұрын
I don't see the problems for the abandoned families to "doxing" their husband and father and urge him taking the responsibility and go back home. His wife and kids deserved to know whereabouts of their loved one and someone they can count on. Privacy needs to take a backseat here. I take glee for his dog pooping on the bed sheets too because the guest deserved that. If that gives a poor reflection on my character, let it be.😂😂😂

Offensive depiction of the situation. Your reference to his mental health and age in such a derogatory manner sucks. He wasn't a psychopath, wasn't crazy, he very clearly had a mental breakdown of sorts. I understand that the situation was a major inconvenience for you and your business but there's no need to make such derogatory remarks about the man. I bet you he has his own horror story about staying at your place. Your dog pooped on his bed and you find it funny? Wow.

I'm a host and i'll take a 45 year old over 19 year olds any day. In fact, i'd rather hav epeople who are at least 30+. No partying, responsible,l they have the money to pay. Anyone can take a gap year at any age. A gap year is just that - a year where you decide to take a break, not work, go traveling etc. I don't see anything wrong with doing that at a later age. I'm 45, i've worked a lot the past few years and i eventually want to take at least 6 months off to go to Europe for the first time. There is nothing "odd" about someone doing this at any age.

@naomiharbour78412 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that most of the friction stemmed from a cultural difference between you and your guest. You did not get his Dutch passive aggressive remark, or his European way of doing things. Other than that, I found your reference to age and mental illness very offensive.
