I just finished work on a video for Airborne Commander, a new game from the fine folks at Stratamax Games. Airborne Commander is a solitaire deck building game from designer Aaron Lauster. You are in charge of the aerial assault on D-Day. You'll play cards from your deck to defeat Axis units and take key objectives to earn points. You are outnumbered and outgunned, but the real enemy is chaos. The more disorganized your deck becomes, the harder it will be to mount a successful attack. Each firefight forces you into key decisions. Survive long enough, though, and you might earn the Medal of Honor. Stratamax will be launching a Kickstarter in March 2015 for a new edition of the game. did you try/like Airborne in my Pocket?

I had only a cursory demo of the Pocket game so I cant really speak to its strengths or weaknesses. can safely say they're very different. Airborne Commander is a solitaire game and as such it puts you under the gun to make really tough choices from the first turn and never really lets up. Especially if you enjoy the deck building genre, there's a lot to enjoy.

I really like the merging of deckbuilding with solo gaming - I'm sure we will see more in this genre going forward. Friday was a great implementation. Now I am just waiting to get my hands on this one. Should have gone to Essen :-(
