Airbrushed Punisher T-Shirt This project started as a simple practice session. The result ultimately became part of my own logo for many years. I've been asked to repaint this same design on shirts numerous times.

I really like this, in my opinion airbrushing on black T-shirts look so much better.

Hey Andrew! I agree. Airbrushing on black, or dark colored shirts does look amazing! It is a bit of a pain though...

Would acrylic paint do or did you use a white ink? I ask as ive got an air brush and ive been thinking about making my own punisher t shirt, as any i search for on eBay are crap and the logo isnt nearly big enough.

I was using Createx Colors which is an acrylic that was designed for fabrics (Createx Wicked Colors also work well on fabrics) and they are very durable provided the paint is set with a heat press. I'm not sure if any acrylic paint will work as well. You can purchase a print of this one at www.amazon.com/dp/B08J13R6HL if you're interested... but I'd encourage you to paint your own too!

Hey, I've been watching your channel and love all the info you have to offer, I just recently started airbrushing, I have a question, I can create dagger strokes, at least large ones, but when I try to create small ones, for example eye lashes, fine hair lines . I can get them but there is a small splatter / spit and the end of them. My paint is thinned and my air pressure is low, and I've tried changing it up to try to get them but that little splatter is frustrating! I don't get them on large ones. Im not sure what is going on. if you could give me any tips please, Thank you

Hi Christopher. There are a few things that can cause what you're describing. It's extremely difficult to pinpoint exactly what is going on without actually being there and watching what is happening, but I'll give it my best shot. The first thing that comes to my mind is tip dry. Tip dry is a pain, but it is part of airbrushing. Some paints are worse than others as far as drying on the tip, but they all do at some point. There's a constant flow of paint and air moving over the needle of your airbrush. Air dries paint and it occasionally dries the paint on the end of your needle too. Dried paint at the tip of your needle can cause some erratic behavior from your airbrush. Get in the habit of constantly removing that dried paint from your needle. I just pick it off with my fingernails every few minutes or so (it will eventually become a habit and you won't realize you're doing it). Other options include using a Q-tip or a small paint brush dipped in whatever cleaning solution you use to clean the paint from your brush. Another cause could be there is some dried paint build up (or some other foreign material) in the fluid nozzle. The fluid nozzle is located directly behind the tip of your needle. If there is something foreign in the nozzle, it may not be allowing the needle to close completely as soon as you close the trigger. That will allow a small bit of paint to flow even after the trigger has been closed. Another import thing to note along with this topic is the fact it could be a manufacturing defect. Regardless of what brand airbrush you choose to purchase, choose a well known brand. I understand we all have different budgets and can't necessarily afford to spend a lot of money (especially when it comes to a hobby), but every reputable airbrush manufacturer offers a lower end, reasonably priced airbrush marketed toward a beginner (and it's pretty impressive what can be accomplished with those brushes once you've invested the time to master the fundamentals). The quality and manufacturing tolerances on the knock-off airbrushes are not the same. Lastly, it might be a simple control issue. You should be leaving the air on constantly when airbrushing. Concentrate on that. Before you begin to paint, the air should be on. When you finish a stroke and turn the paint off, the air should still be on. I hope that helps you out. If not, please don't hesitate to ask further questions. I'll do what I can to help!

How do you get the white to work really well on tshirts? Mine just fades and doesn't work over other colours at all?
@wickedartstudio4 жыл бұрын
You need to use a heat press to cure the paint after the initial application of white base coat. When working over a black t-shirt, I sometimes do that 2 or 3 times (using the heat press between each coat) until I have a good white base to work from.
@johnpayne61774 жыл бұрын
Nice job love your work. I painted a T-shirt with createx illustration paint over a white base and it all washed off. Not sure what I did wrong.
@wickedartstudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! Createx paint must be set with heat in order to become permanent on fabric. A heat press is the preferred method. An iron will work (be sure to use parchment paper between your work and the iron) if you don't have a heat press, but the results won't be as durable.

I appreciate the compliment! Unfortunately, I no longer have the rest of the video footage for this shirt; however, this skull became a part of my logo and I have no doubt I'll be painting it again in the future. I'll post another full video next time I paint it.
