You are absolutely Correct. I am a pilot myself, and the initial takeoff role usually starts once we go to toga or flex And in this situation, the engines didn’t pull up to that percentage so it is still technically a taxi

I once was on a WestJet flight where we had an aborted takeoff, went back to the gate without leaving the plane so the pilots could configure some stuff and adjust to do manual changes, and then tried a take off again but that also failed! Spent about 6 hours in a plane just to not leave the ground. After that they cancelled, and told everyone to come back the next day using the same plane after a maintenance team arrived. The problem was a clogged pitot tube.
@Devyn6Seven8 ай бұрын
Sounds like a flight I had recently from ORD, except it included snow, deicing, a 4h delayed inbound aircraft/crew, and a "TCAS error" that sent us back to the gate, leading to a maintenance investigation, crew timeout, and cancelled flight.

Let's face it- this wasn't an aborted takeoff; you could call it a delayed takeoff. An abort is when you discontinue the takeoff after takeoff thrust is applied. The video quality is good, don't cheapen your product with inaccurate titles.
@jm11782 жыл бұрын
Delayed takeoff isn’t a term that exists in aviation. They initiated the takeoff sequence, had some issue presumably, called it off… it is very much an aborted takeoff… just in the very early stages of the sequence, which is the best point at which to elect to abort. Let’s face it, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
@gerardmoran95602 жыл бұрын
@@jm1178 I'll overlook the juvenile disparagement. Like many things in aviation (and life) it's not all black and white. I set 40% N1 and the F/A calls to say someone got up. I pull the power off, advise ATC, clear the runway and get back in the sequence. That's not an abort. I set takeoff power, a malfunction occurs, I stop the jet, advise ATC and take the required action, be it an evacuation or clearing the runway, doing the after landing checklist, checking brake energy and coordinating with maintenance. That's an abort and requires a logbook write up. You made a good video, hyped the title and then insulted a viewer. Up your game dude!

@@gerardmoran9560 If you set power, start accelerating even if it's 5 knots and stop. It's still an aborted takeoff. All pilots call it that, makes terms easy and allows atc to figure out the problem, address it. whatever they need to do and if the plane is fine they can ask for clearance again.

We began the takeoff, then ceased it, left the runway and sat on a taxiway for 10 minutes before entering the runway again and departing. That’s an aborted takeoff. Are you a pilot?

It wasn’t delayed because they started to accelerate. If it were delayed you would have sat on the runway before accelerating that’s delayed

I think ppl were expecting "rolling at speed then slamming the brakes" type of aborted take off. But to me, the plane lined up to take off, and was a problem, so never attempted a take off, so ABORTED the take off, so pulled off, then lined up to take off again, then took off the 2nd time. Technically it was an aborted take off imo. I'd actually butt clinch on the 2nd attempt. What if they shouldn't have attempted the take off at all? Risking it? A lot of accidents happen just like this. Shouldn't have gone but went ahead anyway.

@@steveh5307 as a pilot this is how I feel. The more info the better. We didn’t hear an announcement from the flight deck till about 10 minutes after we pulled off the runway. I’ve flown on A220’s about 6 times in the last year, and much like on the CRJ you can hear the brakes especially on humid days. As for the turbofan spoiling up, I didn’t hear that particular sound on any of those flights. The reason I think it’s the brakes is that the aircraft in the video does not pickup speed after the the noise, it decelerates. Also, when they spool up for takeoff, the noise isn’t present. I’m probably wrong, but I’m coming from a point of recent experience. I have another flight on an A220 next week so I’ll pay close attention and revert with my findings. Have a great week.
