Very good advices. AC has nothing to do to trap the cold air or save on electricity bills. It is all about insulation. Just like in icy cold snowy North We insulate houses to keep the heat in. You basicly have to do the same to keep the cold air inside. I am a builder in Europe and We have lot of rules and quality standarts, but when I come to Philippines I am in shock. Building traditions here are from 20th century not 21st. What I did notice is that Almost noone is using the double glass windows with inert gas in between. Such windows dont heat up so much. It would be perfect for modern houses in tropical climate. In Europe We mostly order such windows from Poland cause of low price, but high quality.

Correction on 9:58, 2nd Law of Thermodynamics states that heat naturally wants to flow from warmer to cooler areas. Heat spreads out to areas with less heat. Coldness is the absence of heat. So di lalabas yung lamig, technically, pumasok ang init. ☺️ No hates pls. Sharing lng hehe
@hilariopepero96633 жыл бұрын
True. Tho in the context of ACs and refrigerators, people usually explain heat transfer the way he said it (mas madali kasing isipin yung "lalabas ang lamig" kaysa "papasok yung init"). 😂😂
@rpimjada15493 жыл бұрын
That was comprehensive! I know most already except something I learned lately. Try to set your temperature to the highest temperature for a comfort zone. Usually at 22 to 24 you are already cool and comfortable. Setting it too low, say 16 to 18 will not make it work better just harder. And if after an hour you still feel hot inside a room even when it is set 22 to 24 deg Celsius, then your aircon is not rated for your room. Replace it with a higher rating aircon. By setting it at the comfort zone our electric bill dropped 30 to 40 percent. Not bad!

Hi Slater, I'm a registered electrical engineer and there are pros and cons if the aircon is running 24/7. Here are some facts to add. 1st is the maintenance of the aircon will be much frequent than the normal usage if we leave it turned on 24/7. 2nd inverters have different cooling efficiency and may vary depending on the model. 3rd is that if all of us will use the aircon even on the hour that is usually not needed, we might see some changes in our rates. We are consuming energy more than we used to be which affects the law of supply and demand. Demand will be higher than the previous billings and so the rate. The price of electricity will be higher because we will be using plants with higher fuel rates to sustain the demand. I've seen people posting that they intended to leave the aircon turned on even they are not using it because they think that it is much cheaper not to turn it off. My suggestion if we really wanna save our money on the electric bill is that we turn off the breakers for lightings and fixtures that will not be used when we are leaving our home, it also has some safety benefits in case we forget something that is plugged in when we leave the house. We can also turn off the aircon when it's not that hot or if we won't be using it for a long period of time. We need to be more responsible in using our energy. I'm a fan of both of you and palagi akong nabubudol ng iba mong videos, I'm also interested sa blocks mo kaso wala pa sa Luzon. So no offence bro just stating facts na baka makatulong sa atin. Thanks.

My one energy saving practice with air conditioners is to set the temp to around 25C. I used to set it to around 20 to 22C, heard this tip, and was super shocked at the big difference in electricity consumption between those two temp settings. I average at around 2-3KW of usage per day with my 0.6HP non-inverter unit only turned on between 9PM - 9AM (its main purpose was to help me sleep). The room isn't as cool this way, but I really only need the room to be relatively cooler than the outside. The lower the difference between the outside and inside temperatures, the less your air conditioner has to work to reach optimal indoor temperature.

Vornado is the best to move the air in the room. I have several around my house and also ceiling fans. I’m surprised you don’t have them in your house especially in high ceiling rooms and bedrooms. It’s important to move the otherwise stagnant air so that the ac does not work as hard. I have my ceiling fans on 24/7 in several rooms in the house along with the ac with thermostat during summer time in CA where it can reach 110 degrees or warmer.
