The only challenge in picking out an engine though is the fact that most readily available piston engines are somewhat dated in terms of the technology, at least when you compare to an automative engine. And the engines that are more advanced in technology are very very expensive. Take the new rotax 915 for example. A whopping $37,000. Or Lycoming engine with a FADEC system, you’re already north of $100,000. Point being, aircraft engines can use some good alternatives.
