My company chartered a Phenom 300 to go to the IMT show in Chicago. It was about a thousand miles one way. It was just so fast, comfortable and it is now the only plane our CEO will fly on now. We were all about the Citation X for years and it is still a great business jet, but the -300 was just a game changer. This 500 looks like a real winner. Perhaps if we need a larger jet we will check into this. Hard to leave a -300 though.

Airplane Spotting HD and many pilots, myself included, would agree ;) And I never said that side sticks are generally "better".

What ever you prefer, just don't crash and we'll get along just fine.

Airplane Spotting HD hahaha very well said. I have come to the same point before with a buddy of mine who flies for American. I know both systems have their advantages/disadvantages. I prefer the sidestick, but I have nothing against a yoke. But the old Embraer bicycle yoke looked hideous in that beautiful jet and doesn't fit the modern cockpit anymore in my opinion ;)
@ZK-APA5 жыл бұрын
Basic concept is if you are a pilot and love flying non autopilot, then yoke is preferable. But if you are an aircraft operator or a pilot who’s mainly flying long distance cruise on autopilot, a side stick will make more sense

My favorite mid-sized jet.. incredible technology, luxurious interior and a lot of head space. I wonder if this can be controlled by a single pilot like the Phenom.
@jetAVIVA7 жыл бұрын
Dee Matt, thanks for the comments. While there is a tremendous amount of technology in the Legacy 500, it is 2-crew required jet. No single pilot flying this beauty!
@murillo06276 жыл бұрын
it can not be a single pilot due to law requirements

It's really a beauty, but there are more to know about this jet. How many people can this jet fly and maximum how far away it's also can fly, for example, can this jet fly from Brazil straight to London?
@jetAVIVA5 жыл бұрын
Haz Khan The Legacy 500 is advertised as a 3,125 nm aircraft flown with 4 passengers at a long range cruise speed near .80M. Different seating configuration and option selections can impact the range accordingly. The maximum passenger configuration allows for 12 pax via a double divan, side seat and belted lav. Typical interior configuration is either a double club or club plus divan for 8 to 9 passengers.

No Reverse Thrust ???? Kind of Weird
@jetAVIVA5 жыл бұрын
Marc, the Legacy 500 does indeed have thrust reversers. This, combined with a brake by wire system gives the Legacy 500 impressive short field landing performance.
@marc.wrutgers67045 жыл бұрын
@@jetAVIVA Thank you for pointing that out to me . Great looking Jet
@gerarcvm5 жыл бұрын
@nightstalker?? Haha, really?? Actually ALL the airplanes in the world (including the A380) are certified without using the thrust reversers, but the TR's are good to help in some situations, even in small propeller airplanes.
@gerarcvm5 жыл бұрын
@nightstalker The E145 doesn't need TR's, and the 747 also doesn't need TR's... you use them in both airplanes (when the E145 is equipped) because you don't want to arrive to the gate with the brakes smoking haha, you don't use them to stop the airplane, the airplane can stop perfectly without the TR's. Actually Airbus didn't want to build the A380 with TR's because the brakes were really good, but the FAA encouraged them to install them. In the airplane that I fly (Hawker 850XP) it's common to taxi with a TR open so you don't get your brakes useless before you get to the runway, also the Gulfstream's and Global's use exactly the same taxi procedure.
@gerarcvm5 жыл бұрын
@nightstalker Wow, the landing distance in the 747 is computed with the use of TR's? Wow, didn't know... that must be challenging.
