I've read Daniel's book, and also watched his documentary. His journey and struggles are one, (even those who have never been combat aviators) can relate to. As for the negative comments some made about his hat.......there's a history and right of passage to wearing it. I understand and respect that entirely. Great work. Thank you.

What kind of a doorknob made silly comments about his hat? Whomever it was, I hope for their sake they don't do it around active cavalry servicemen and women!

A very gutsy interview. Not for the faint of heart. War is not a video game. Describes the difficulties of flying even the most powerful choppers in 'hot and high' environments.

Negative G limit is for Cobra/Bells with semi rigid system. No negative G limits in Apache. We do push overs all the time, particularly with diving rockets. 3 fuel cells if using robbie tank.

So my question is; Did the Army helicopter pilots ever call in Airforce A-10's to operate when the altitude was just either to high or too hot for helicopters. Or was the culture, we can handle it ourselves?
@dougerrohmer2 жыл бұрын
I would imagine A10's might be a bit more constrained in the mountains and valleys?
@PhantomMark Жыл бұрын
@@dougerrohmer Never flown one beyond DCS, but in that environment you can conduct most things at 20+k in the A10 and be effective with the sensors etc, and you're out the range of normal manpads in such an environment, in DCS it gives the impression of a highly effective high altitude weapons platform if required, as well as something that can get down and dirty if required.
