I'm a recording engineer. I think we're hearing the group via an on-camera microphone. The radio listeners probably got a much better mix because the kids are using their own mic for the radio feed and they've really learned how to work with it. I love these kids!

I wondered why the vocals were on the weak side! I know they lip sync to studio recordings on some of their broadcasts from home. They're very good at using whatever resources are at hand..

Yes.. The microphone was ran through the radio station's board (mixer), so the best sound was heard by the radio listening audience.

@@mattbelinski7760 Yes, but with respect, Joe, if you watch some of their earlier videos, you can see the occasional 'glitch' indicating a re-take, but the audio is seamless. Plainly, this performance is 'live', and (as always) of a tremendously high standard, but notice how they 'play' the mic... They've always done that, so it takes a while to tumble that you're listening to a studio recording (they have their own studio!). You ask yourself 'How are they doing that with one mic'???? I've spent enough hours behind a mixing desk to know a bit about it and the CPKs are very good at going 'minimalist'. Cluster around one mic, with a spot mic on the bass. Create a natural balance and 'play the mic for solos etc.... In a big venue, you've got a choice - close mic everything or, go minimalist. The important thing is that they are beautiful, talented kids with wonderful parents. Y'a gotta love 'em!!

You are always at the mercy of sound engineers at these type functions who may or may not know what they are doing. Being it's a local event probably not the most well equipped outfit. Still the name of the game is promotion in the recording business. You go to all types of public events and talk to any Radio dic jockey willing to talk to you and promote your new recording that's coming out. I'm glad to see CPK is being recognized at higher levels now in their professional pursuits. I'd love to see them land a spot as the opening act for a really big Nashville music Star on a national tour. That would really kick their career up to the next level. I'm sure it's coming given time. Good luck with the new single release CPK!
