I like this robot concept very much, but if something sounds too good to be true, it suggests scam. (Although with GPT people thought this either.) Water operated robot muscles definitely make sense; if with oil based hydraulics things go wrong, it results in big mess (remember your kids torn Stretch Armstrongs - completely unacceptable at home) and even asks for a fire disaster. (I'd still prefer pneumatics.) Creating trade show prototypes or a daily serviced animatronic is one thing, but strong elastomeric muscles those won't wear out within few days or weeks (try to re-inflate a balloon that many times) will be much tougher. Remember those expanding stretch garden hoses, those were infamous to burst after a month. A rental worker robot that earns more money than its daily service costs may be possible, but for a reliable home robot with service intervals like a car or washing machine, I worry that elastomer development still isn't far enough. (Our body needs to continuously replace cells to keep muscles intact.) Also the servo sensors for positioning each muscle will be complex. This is a new fundamental technology that (as exciting it is) can need decades to turn into something robust.

I'm not worried about AI talking over, I see it filling a more benign/benevolent rolling day to day life, There are so many options which don't include the enslavement or anialation of humanity, that stuff is just fearmongering. However I do believe that Laws will need to be implemented to ensure that those of us humans who wish to work are allowed to work along side of and with the assistance of Synths but that we are also not replaced entirely as the workforce... IE corperations shouldn't be allowed to just replace us cause it's cheaper... Synthetics also need to be designed with servicability in mind to remove the possibility for obsolescence and ensure the preservation of Synthetic "life" (should they ever evolve and gain any semblance of sentiance)

One reason Boston Dynamics abandoned hydraulics is due to safety concerns. Clone Alpha better have "skin" that contains a 100psi water jet if/when a line bursts. Imagine it shoots a jet of high pressure water out into someone's eye and blinds them, or even just causes costly water damage inside a home when it springs a leak at night while the humans are asleep. This company better have massive insurance coverage.

i'm guessing they use smaller tubes with less overall volume of water, to make up for it they use a lot of them, this limits the damage that can be caused by a single line failure.
@Justin_Arut
@Justin_Arut Ай бұрын
@@janegilbert7896 nah.. I don't claim to be smarter than the engineers at Boston Dynamics who decided all-electric was the best option. I happen to agree with them. But apparently you don't, so you must be the genius in the room.
@Justin_Arut
@Justin_Arut Ай бұрын
@@tuseroni6085 The pressure is supposedly 100psi, regardless, which is what I was addressing as the safety issue. And it needs to be high in order to achieve the spec'd strengths, including grip. Also, water isn't compressible, so there's that. The overall volume won't be enough to flood the place, but it could leak enough to damage a carpet or upholstery or collectible or short out something like an extension cord, etc. etc. That said, there are probably redundant valves that close off when a drop in pressure (leak) is detected.

I can tell you that transcribers, the rest of automotive assembly, telemarketing, customer service, warehouse staff, sorting (such as mail and packages), and many other lower tier jobs will be harder to get. One robot for say, $1 million will work 24/7 with no sick days, no tardies, no moody moments will cost less over 10 years than revolving door workers, or probelmatic workers over that span of time.*

Companies will lease robots at a calculated cost relative to labor capabilities of the bot. Or subscription services will be established. But once jobs are replaced by machines there will be little incentive for companies to pay high taxes so that UBI can be extracted for the dubious purpose of supporting non-productive members of society. Given that oligarchs will be running whatever is left of government, UBI will be a non-starter. And if you are wondering what consumers will use to support consumption, it's also highly likely that the entire economic model will be changed out so that only certain classes of stuff will be produced to support oligarchs in their pleasure palaces. This time, when things change, EVERYTHING changes. Remember all the animals that used to supply energy for various purposes? You don't see many around anymore. And once slavery was abolished, that particular energy source wandered off and transformed itself into wage labor. So this time, there's nowhere for wage labor to go. At some point you have to think about your worth relative to the actual needs of the overlords. The equation does not look good.

Why doesn't science make as much of a concerted effort in trying to develop artificial limbs that work as effectively as the natural limbs for the human body. Especially when you consider that they could recreate various organs that could replace appendages who have ones that are failing. What happened to science trying to help humanity and not just try to recreate artificial intelligence, when they could help recreate essentials to assist organic life as we know it. There's so many people that have been maimed or are handicapped by their body's inability to perform normally. I'm all for artificial intelligence, but they should take some of the efforts that they've made in these reconstructions and try to apply them to the human body so that people can live a normal life and have normal mobility.

@Bunbunfunfun not all Christians understand everything. You certainly dont, and im not gonna pretend i do. I came to see the replies to this comment because im interested in seeing what people had to say about it. Im open minded until i know for sure of anything. God, demons, angels, heaven, hell... thats all real. This stuff goes deep. The problem is most people are not guided properly and their beliefs are all over the place. They claim Christianity and still celebrate Halloween. Truth is, demons are insanely powerful, can be as small as a brain cell or as big as a county. They have pretty much unlimited powers of deception. This includes disguises. I dont believe demons want bodies. I believe they like to attach themselves to us and cause us continuous harm. This is called a curse. I believe they are here to steal, kill and destroy as part of an ancient pact, born of hatred for God, who is absolutely real. I have learned how the blood of Jesus works in the supernatural and have learned to cover myself with it and it becomes a shield that nothing the enemy has can break through. There will always be set backs, but God gives restoration. He returns to me what I've lost 10 fold. Like i have experienced supernatural healing, been part of a deliverance ministry, ive seen things, ive done lifetimes of research and God has shown me that He respects the persuit of HIS truths, which are the foundation for what IS truth... and he has revealed answers to me about many things that, any one of these things are things people spend their whole lives obsessing over. Aliens. Bigfoot. Dogmen... cryptids... witchcraft, astral projection, metamorphosis, mind control... i know whats what about all of it. There's plenty of evidence for the truth, and its easy to find when the foundation of truth, is YOUR foundation, which is the word of God. Get you a CJB version. Its the best, most direct, most correct translation. You need to quit playing games. Your eternity could literally begin tomorrow afternoon. Do the research, find whatever answers you need, but do it not to disprove God, but to PROVE God is real to yourself. You have to want it. You have to want His promises. After that, you gotta get to know Him.

Clone Alpha's humanoid robotic system is clearly inspired by Star Trek: The Next Generation's Data, the Terminator series, and even the cyberhumans from Battlestar Galactica. It’s a logical progression if we’re aiming to replace humans for consumer and workplace applications. For the average consumer, this robot would be an absolute game-changer-as long as its telekinesis programming and virtual symbiotic human anatomy aren’t misused. You wouldn’t even need to overhaul your living space; adding a charger, as simple as putting one in a guest bed or closet, would suffice. In the workplace, though, things get trickier. For jobs that are highly automated or repetitive, this robot might not outperform existing systems. But in roles requiring a human touch-creativity, adaptability, or emotional intelligence-this robot could thrive. It’s here that Clone Alpha would truly shine, bridging the gap between human flexibility and robotic efficiency. Having symbiotic, cybernetic "Datas" all around could be both fantastic and a little terrifying. We’re already 90% of the way there; what’s holding us back are manufacturing costs, aesthetic refinements, economic viability, and social acceptance. But with the rapid advancements in robotics and AI, I’d give it no later than 2040-maximum 2050-before every household has a multi-purpose robotic assistant for everything from chores to companionship. And let’s be real-by that time, I’ll probably be 70, laughing my ass off while my personal symbiotic robot helps me around the house. Heck, I wouldn’t even need to worry about who’s changing my diaper-although, fingers crossed, it won’t come to that. It’s wild to think about, but the potential impact on employment, creativity, and nearly every industry is massive. When I say every industry, I mean every industry, from the oldest ones to the newest. So, what do you all think? Are we looking at a utopia or dystopia here?

Frank Herbert answered that question in Dune. In his far-future universe, Humans ended up getting very lazy. Machines did everything for us. Then the machines quietly became the masters and we their slaves. Then came the Jihad against "thinking machines" that forced humans to rediscover their talents and abilities and develop them in special schools, with machines being fine as tools but strictly no AI.

Best robot humanoid design thus far. This one is the game changer. I personally had an idea that making a robot with synthetics instead of mimicking the human body with clunky designs will allow for more flexibility. It's all about approach

a 500W waterpump ? this might make a hell of a noise when required to animate the entire machine. beside of that - the water will increase in volume if exposed to heat and start to freeze below 0°C. why not to include a hydro pneumatic accumulator ?
