Just built this kit for a group build run by UK retailer Jadlam. Really enjoyed it. Fit was pretty good and it looks to be a pretty accurate representation. I finished it in flight as a what-if USAAF aircraft in Tunisia late 1943.

Another great review Jon. The detail on the surface is over scaled but it does I admit give the subject that look which makes the kit pop out! Airfix has come a long way from the days of matchbox kits. Thanks!

Thank you! These kits are so much better than kits that were available when I was a kid. However, the competition is getting better as well. If Airfix can improve the plastic parts of the kits, they could be world-class. They can be turned out nicely, but they're not in the same league as the other major manufacturers currently. Cheers!

I’ve been getting into AIRFIX KITS… They’ve really stepped up their tooling… I have a Spitfire mk 2 in the stash, just ordered aftermarket decals for BATTLE of BRITAIN SFires YES, I would buy and build this kit just by your review alone… Kit comparison should be done more, that way a modeler can see how other kit manufacturers get it made… Again, AIRFIX has really gotten better overall YOU HAVE MY LIKE 👍 CHRIS 🇺🇸

Thanks, Chris! I do love the Spitfires! So many different variations and so many great color schemes. Cheers!

Who doesn't have more than one Spitfire in their collection? Partially due to history partly due to the streamline of just about any variant. , I've almost gotten my 3 1/72, close to final stages. Now I need to hit my paint mules for more skill building. I'll get that stripping review to ya as an early Christmas present :-) Even in retirement, lately its been hard to work in pure hobby time. Cheers till the next review.

Built this one 11 years ago (back in 2012),not a bad kit, gotta say its better than the other spitfire kits by airfix, I find the more recent kits have some really bad fit issues with them, so I tend to stick to the eduard spitfires 👍

I love the Eduard Spitfires - truly world-class! And I agree that this Spitfire fits better than the Mk.V and Mk. XIV. Until Eduard decides to do the Griffon Spitfires, this is still the best Mk.XII. cheers!

Hello Jon, it's better to wake up and see an excellent video and review of this kit, I really like the spitfire, it is one of the most beautiful adding that along with the lines of the Rolls Royce Griffon it gives it an aerodynamic fuselage, I have only assembled airfix a mk Vb trop, based on that experience and the ICMs that I have built, be they MK VII to MK IV, I can say that it was a pleasure to build, I really liked the interior details of the cockpit, as well as the exterior, the panel lines and The details of some rivets looked very good, I must say that as a drawback, you must always do a test without glue assembling the parts, since there are millimeter differences in some pieces that make it difficult to assemble, but outside of this point, it is really nice. I have not assembled the Eduard model, plus when importing it, shipping is very expensive, it will be later waiting for some reduction in the price hahaha, I still have an ICM to be assembled and continue collecting their free engines that come with each kit hahaha, also that the crew and mechanics come along with the kit. It would be interesting to take an ICM kit and see how much it can be improved without using extras, just with techniques or objects at home... Greetings and thanks for the time given to the videos.

Thanks, Francisco! I will be posting a review of the ICM/Revell Spitfire soon. I'm still working on my Spitfire collection - so many beautiful aircraft and color schemes! Cheers!

Looks good as always! Nice review. I’m starting reevaluating Airfix kits. They seem having better quality recently.

Right on! Some Airfix kits are better than others, and this is one of the better ones. Cheers!

Thank you for the review Jon and, as usual, a very nice result. An enjoyable watch for a sunny Sunday morning. I concur that the panel lines look a bit heavy but much better than the "trench-like" panel lines of ye olde Airfix kits, that were all piloted by "The Blob"! (Always such inappropriate hand placement!). Eduards Mk VIII Weekend Edition is in the stash as this comes with Australian markings inc. Clive Caudwell, Australia's top Ace 28.5 German, Italian and Japanese aircraft. (Highest scoring P-40 pilot ever). Got in trouble and demoted for flying in and selling sly booze to US troops in the East Indies !!! Cheers Matt 🦘🦘🦘

Thanks, Matt! I have the Mk.VIII kit as well, and it looks great - very similar to the Eduard Mk.IX. Thanks for the backstory on Clive Caudwell. It makes a build much more enjoyable when there's a connection with the subject you're building. Cheers from Pennsylvania!

Hi Jon, that looked to be a great kit, but sfter your review opinion you are correct, nobody else does a Mk VII, and what kit is 100% perfect? Absolutely none, very good review mate, best regards from Australia 👌👍👌👍👌☺
