For what it's worth, I find a quick flash of white primer really helpful with a white topcoat. Seems to help with the adhesion. Just looked at the one I have in my stash and the masts are bent out of shape and it has so much flash. Not sure I will have your patience 😂

A vintage kit from the 1950s. The paint covers pretty well. Simple assembly and with a bit of effort a nice little model can result.

I built this kit a couple of months ago, I restarted modelling at Christmas gone after a 40 year hiatus, didn't enjoy it tbh but it wasn't as bad as the Airfix 1/72 Grumman Gosling I built a week or so before which was the first kit I ever built at 8 years of age, no wonder I had trouble with it back then it was a struggle at 68 years of age!

hello rick! we exchanged posts a couple of days ago on facebook regarding this kit and our respective youtube channels, on my build of this kit, the hull and deck weren't too bad, but I certainly had to scrape and sand the masts like you have here, but my main gripe with this kit, is that three out of the four paints had almost solidified in the pot, more like blu tac than paint! and the fourth, the number 12 was only borderline usable, theres a semi decent model in this kit, but, as you say its definitely not for beginners! I visited the cutty sark earlier this year and took quite a few photos knowing I had this kit to build ( I've put some in my part one video of the build), but knowing what stuff should look like versus what you have in this kit probably doesn't help!

Hello Phil.. yea this kit is kinda love/hate 😂😂 I’ll check out your build and do the like/comment thing bud. The paints are generally a problem I’m finding unfortunately, I suppose it depends how long it sits on the shelf.. happy modeling dude I’ll check in on your channel tomorrow 👍👍👍

Really enjoyed the video. It would be great to have a bit more commentary so as to understand a bit better your thought process as and when problems / issues occur, or indeed the good points (although I'm not sure this particular kit has too many 😅). Thanks for sharing 👍
