The Boulton-Paul Defiant was the only 'turret fighter' to enter service with the RAF. The Defiant used the philosophy that a fighter aircraft, armed solely with a turret bristling with machine guns would be able to enter a bomber stream causing havoc and the turret would also enable it to defend itself from enemy fighters.
During its first few engagements during the Battle of Britain in 1940, enemy pilots were taken by surprise and the Defiant fared well but soon the Luftwaffe pilots worked out its weaknesses, especially the lack of forward firing guns and the Defiant was soon relegated to night fighting duties were it fared better.

The parts you where unsure of where the fairings for the turret one up and one down for operation as with the canopy as well . The gunner wears a "rhino" suit as the turret didn't allow for a standard chute and harness set up to be worn. The RAF mussem at cosford has a example of both the plane and the rhino suit on display

They are the fairings . As like the Ariel's on the underside of the aircraft they were hydraulically operated . Best advice I can give is fit the turret first then the fairing . Was thinking about kit bashing that with a hurricane to overcome the design weakness of no forward firing armament.

Looks another decent kit. Put up my Instagram post. I chose to share the last model I completed. Which was the 1/8 scale Shelby Cobra Sports Car from Agoramodels. A rather large mostly metal model that was built over 12 months. With 1 pack of parts being received every month. Not cheap lol.

Nice - I built the original 60's kit a few years back - If I remember rightly I added a resin correction nose, new exhausts and prop and a scratch built cockpit. I also enlarged the tailplane, fin and rudder... and then Airfix released this LOL! I have this in the Stash but I've yet to build it.
