Great show as always guys. My special moment with an air rifle was shooting at the local landfill site at crows and gulls. I shot a full out the sky with my BSA Meteor, lucky I know but will never forget that big thud when the Gull hit the deck.

I could've listened to those stories for hours. I'm glad I was lucky enough to have airguns and springers in my life since I was a kid. , up to PCP's today. I started with a Harrington Gat .177 pistol, which I still have to this day.

I would like to see some more springers on pest control, under lever is my fav.
@RichardSaunders-w9b3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately my springers only really come out for a bit of fun and the occasional hunting trip. I've lost count of the number of times I've been determined to take a springer out pest controlling and then one of my PCPs has tempted me at the last minute! Thanks for watching.

Hello Gentlemen and viewers, Thank you for your latest podcast. I've really enjoyed it, like others, listening to your early airgun experiences. Strangely enough, like Richard, my memories began around the age of twelve years old. One of my friends had a huge house and gardens, and for one of his birthdays, he received a BSA Meteor in .22 calibre. I dearly wanted one of my own, though I really hadn't a hope. From that time, I yearned for a Weihrauch HW80. There was no Internet then, so I don't recall how I found about them. I don't know why, but that rule carried all my life. My father was the keenest of shooting enthusiasts. Dad had air rifles, shotguns and muzzle loaders. We had a strict upbringing, certainly by today's standards and that land wasn't for me to tread. So my airgun memories began far more recently, around 2018, after our dearly loved father passed, when I purchased my much much sought after HW80K. By this time, I was messaging Richard at Alpha Millitaria, who was so kind in answering all my airgunning queries and puzzles. At that time, with great respect, Weihrauch had some miserable, lack lustre stocks for their HW's 97K and 80K's. I explained to Richard I had a passion to create my own stock for the HW80K, one that would make Mr Weihrauch proud. My intention wasn't to rival Minelli. It was to show what an ordinary working man could produce/achieve from his two up, two down terraced house kitchen, using just hand tools and a burning passion to produce the best he could. My gunstock was laminated in walnut and ash and it's design based on the suggestion of predators, as I wanted it to be exciting. It was treated in linseed oil, to allow the wood to breathe. After working hard, I managed to have it ready and took it to the 2022 Great British Shooting Show at Birmingham NEC, where I was able to proudly show it to Richard, Tony Belas of Daystate, and a gentleman called Chris who did airgun reviews for Crackshots on Utube. All these gentleman were very praising and encouraging when looking over my pride and joy. That was a very proud moment for me, being able to show these gentlemen, who I held in very high regard, something I'd worked very hard on and put so much effort into was a great moment for me. While I worked on my gunstock, I sent my action to Lyn Lewington who kindly worked his magic, tuning it for me and making it very, very special. After being kept away from air rifles all my life, that was a very happy, memorable experience in my personal, airgunning journey. Thank you, gentlemen. I look forward to your next podcast. Best wishes, Ian.

Hello Ian. I remember your HW80 stock very well. It's a thing of beauty and very well made. With Lyn having worked on the mechanical bits I'm sure it shoots as good as it looks. You're dad would be proud. Take care...

I've recently got hold of a beautiful 99% mint condition Webley Service MK2 & a Webley MK3. The MK2 is such an amazing rifle, being almost 100yrs my old & able to change calibre in under 10secs is just insane. I loved it so much I got a really tatty MK2 which I'm currently restoring which has certainly triggered my Springer craze. Then I was given (friend passed) a AA TX200SR 177 which is again superb. I then bought a friend an Original 45 which is one hole precision at 20yds & not much larger at 30yds. Fantastic video guys 😁
@RichardSaunders-w9b3 ай бұрын
You gotta love an old Webley! As a kid you were either BSA or Webley...and then Weihrauch came along! I too got an Original 45 and with you 100%. They don't make 'em like they used to. And sorry to hear about your friend, though I'm sure he'd be chuffed to know his old rifle is still being put to good use.

Oh guys, really enjoyed your humour and it was lovely hearing about your old air guns as well as your past and recent capers. In recent times I’ve been taking out my old Lightning and Supersport and reconnecting with them although phew, it’s harder work compared to my PCPs This show is brilliant with just the two of you 👍
@RichardSaunders-w9b3 ай бұрын
Thanks very much Nick. We try our best! I love noting more than getting my old springers out. The trouble is we're spoiled by PCPs now and my springers spend too long in between outings. Thanks for watching.
@nickwebb92903 ай бұрын
@@RichardSaunders-w9b Likewise Richard but…once I’ve got my springers out there I really enjoy myself, as well as having to work that bit harder 😉 They do seem a challenge after using PCPs but as Mat said, they’re wonderfully self sufficient and that’s another aspect of them I like. I really do love the programme you both do and hope you can always find the time to make them. Many thanks 🙏

I have been shooting air rifles for 49 years and this year is the first time I have seen squirrels eating conkers . I also had squirrel run around me while standing by trees they certainly catch you out
@RichardSaunders-w9b3 ай бұрын
I've just taken on squirrel management at a large woodland estate. I've put up some feeders and hides. All the hides I've had before have had solid sides and you can only see out the front. But the new hides are perforated on three sides which means you can see out of them, but can't see in. It's amazing how much activity you see when you have a 270 degree of what's going on - squirrels walking right past, foxes, deer...I even had a buzzard land no more than 10 feet from me. It makes you realise what a privilege it is to be in the countryside.
@gallantone15353 ай бұрын
@@RichardSaunders-w9b I think when out hunting you see far more wildlife and when you experience roe deer that get use to you it's a real privilege also sparrow hawks gliding past you and you can feel the air against your face also muntjac licking blood off a squirrel you just shot I wish I could have all my experience's on film as you said it's a great experience, it's also amazing that if you are still what comes past you only inches away and that includes people 😄👍

I've been using the ZEISS Secacam 5 for the best part of a year and it's awesome. Lots of remote controllability. Crystal clear images and very easy to set up. The photo subscription options are good too and don't cost more than a few quid. Great on batteries too. I don't think I've changed the ones in mine yet. The cellular cameras have the benefit if giving you and indication of when your peanut feeder is empty too. Thanks for watching.
