It's unfortunate that better self-defense options are pretty limited outside the US. Looks like I'd go with those lightweight aluminum rounds if I had to use one of these, as it was able to damage the skull which was surprising. Only real issue with this is that you essentially have to be hitting headshots to do any significant damage. Fortunately, firearms are legal in most of the States, but again this seems decent for those in areas where that's not possible.
@drew8570 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the US is cooler, if you don't have kids. It is NOT a good place to have a family. You never know when they won't come home. In America, our laws protect corporations, but not our people. We are averaging more than one mass shooting a day here. Literally.

@@coldspring22 Shotguns are great for that specific reason actually. If the verbal warning doesn't work, first round is a beanbag, if that isn't enough the next one's bird shot which probably won't kill the bad guy but will hurt real bad, and then if they still haven't given up it's buckshot for the rest of the tube. I'm surprised the arrows went that deep from 20 feet away. Any closer and it's a through and through, and that's even more fatal. Nothing stuck in to help stop bleeding. Might be a good "last line of defense" option, but I wouldn't ever want to use it as a primary, for several reasons. Presumably only going to get one shot, and it's likely that one shot will be fatal if it lands. If you want fatal, there are a lot of better options. Aluminum round balls seem to hit pretty good for a less lethal option, tho.

Hey Kris, you can buy them online here: 🔫 HDR50/TR50 (11 joules) Amazon: amzn.to/38PYPR8 Ebay: ebay.us/nNMPu2 As for the legality in Illinois, you’ll have to check. Though there are others who do a video or 2 about the HDR50, you're the only one who consistently tests and explores them. I've learned more about this non-lethal from you than I have from anyone else, and I'm talking with my friendly contact at SEDENA about the legality of owning one of these in Mexico. I will be sure to update you on the laws and facts about this because the laws are extreme in Mexico regarding gun and airgun ownership. I have many legal guns and airguns and compound bows here, but I researched the laws thoroughly before becoming a weapon owner here. I know your videos are US based, but the HDR is sold in many countries. Maybe one day you can do a video about legality of the HDR50 in other countries. I can help you with some research. I live in Italy, too. I can check European Union laws, Mexico, Belize. Honduras. Guatemala etc...

Air guns are worth considering especially in places like where I live where it's unreasonably hard and expensive to get the permit for a firearm. Vast majority of air guns sold for home defense are rebranded paintball markers but that has an upside- you can tune them up quite a bit. From factory most of these markers are well bellow 17 joules but if you tune them right you can go to 60 or even over 80 joules and that is enough to be seriously painful. It's still very much non lethal and not a replacement for a firearm, but an option worth considering for people who can't get a firearm for one reason or another. Plus shooting them is a really fun pass time and .43 cal balls are a LOT cheaper than actual bullets and you can have a full auto marker for a bit extra fun on top :)

@AirgunAlley Жыл бұрын
Hi my friend and sorry for my late reply! Good question. With the HDR 50 if you decide to shoot arrows, you can only shoot arrows, because you need to remove the central rotating piece of the magazine. But it should be quick to reload. The HDS 68 is a bit weak, but gives you a lot of room to alternate ammo. I’ll be testing the cododo arrows on the HDR 50 and HDS 68 very soon - if you’re not in a hurry, let’s see what comes out of those tests. Hopefully you’ll get a clearer idea afterwords…

One of the potential problems I anticipate with this sort of weapon is that you're not supposed to keep it laying around with the CO2 cartridge already loaded because the pressure will dissipate over time. So if you need it in a hurry, you have to take the time to load the cartridge in an emergency...not ideal. Am I wrong about this?
@AirgunAlley Жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks. Yes, this gun has a quick piercing valve. So the CO2 remains sealed until the moment of need, at which you bump the piercing valve and the CO2 is freshly released. So you can leave it years without using it and it’ll always be ready to go….
@toddcooper2563 Жыл бұрын
My city ordinance allows pellet guns being fired in town as long as it's on your own property, so I purchased a Crosman Nitro Venom .177 break-barrel for controlling critters in my garden. It's surprisingly powerful and while sighting in the scope, it was actually going through ¾" OSB. The problem is it has the wood stock and with the scope it looks too real at a glance. That, and with a lighter pellet, it sounds like a .22 rimfire going off and it sometimes attracts unwanted attention. Pellet guns are leaps and bounds more advanced than what I grew up with. But as far as home defense goes with a CO2 pistol, you had best make damn sure the first shot is true and accurate because you'll likely end up getting yourself killed by a highly pissed off intruder. For home invasion defense, I wouldn't go with ANYTHING LESS than a short barreled .410 shotgun.
