I've always preferred the carbine rifles ,a lot of fellow shooters at my club used to tell me how I should have bought the longer version of whatever rifle they saw me with , their reason was the longer rifles are more accurate , Bare in mind I do target shooting ( and a lot of grouping on paper from 40 to 60 yds ) , even when they saw how tight my grouping was ( ten shots that I could cover with a 5 pence piece ). Groupings like that from a .177 UK power rifle are considered to be pretty good . I would reply "I dont need the longer rifles as I'm happy with the grouping and further more my groups were sometimes better than some guys who were using target rifles and single loading the pellets by hand . Still they kept saying I could get better groupings with a longer barrel , so I started to go hft shooting as they said thats where you really test your accuracy , and they said a carbine wouldn't be reliable out at 45 meteres when competing against guys who all use single shot target rifles . I prepared my pellets and the very first shoot I scored a fifth , that was the day a loaf of guys turned around to me and said " we owe you a drink mate " By no means am I any better then the average shooter , the rifles these days are that good that as long as I do my bit the rifle will do the rest

Fantastic overview and summary of differences between these fairly complex air rifles! These seem best suited for larger caliber ammo, since they would have to be "tuned down" for .22 cal, but I worry about the availability of "oddball" larger ammo sizes down the road. How is the air bottle filled at home, an electric pump? (A hand pump seems like much work and a scuba shop is not always practical.) Also, can a second bottle be filled and stowed in a backpack, for swapping out a depleted bottle in the field?
@AirGunScientist Жыл бұрын
Availability of ammo in any caliber will NEVER be an issue at TGAG!!!!! We have literally a number of MILLIONS of pellets from .177 to .35 and slugs from .177 to .510 cal.

@AirGunScientist2 жыл бұрын
Which model? Which adjustment? If you mean the knob under the barrel on the Impact MK3, its function is to dampen the hammer bounce and make shots more consistent. Hope that helps.

The 700cc will greatly help with shooting slugs. A longer barrel will give more dwell time in the barrel, hence more efficient air usage.

I'm looking for an all-round "rimfire replacement" that's quiet as possible - perhaps with a factory suppressor (I'm a Canadian with a gun license, but suppressors are illegal here, unless they come with the rifle). I'd like something that can be a 'takedown' or at least halved so it fits into a guitar case (38.5" / 977cms). Note that this is NOT for concealment, just discretion, as I live in a security apartment building where there are many senior citizens. I'm going to be getting advice from my local firearms office to be sure re: transportation. I'm interested in a .25 or a .30 calibre, with an industry-high or competitive FPE - like a 900fps+, so 100yd (stationary/paper) bullseyes are realistic. Ammo cost would help in that decision. I'd likely invest in a barrel that can handle slugs in case I want to hunt coyotes, raccoons or rats. I'm new to hunting, so if a .30 cal versus a coyote at 900fps & < 50yards isn't a humane hunt, then I won't do it. I'm aware that .22-250 is ideal for coyotes, so I'm just looking for airgun advice at this time. I will invest in an air pump, scope & perhaps a spare air cylinder. I'd expect maybe 60-80 shots per 'session' at the very most, likely using peak power or near that. Semi-auto would be ideal but no necessary. Weight isn't important, but any hunting will be short walks in the woods, often in cold conditions so I don't want cold weather to affect performance. I'd like something I can accessorize or even upgrade without trading up. I'd like to know the company stands behind branded accessories & are aggressive in their R&D. I get a feeling that as airguns get more powerful, semi-auto & have such incredible FPE, Canada will probably start regulating all the fun out of it & I want to get my foot in the door before that happens. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thank you!

Would you have any suggestions for an Impact M3 .35 600 mm barrel regulator settings. I would like to deer hunt with it. Thank You!
@AirGunScientist2 жыл бұрын
realistically there are quite a few variables you would have to figure out before going that far, FPE target, pellets/slugs, ammo weight, then you can start tuning, main reg being the most vital, along with hammer spring etc. Its a relatively in depth and repetitive process, maybe we will do a video on it, but if you search KZbin, tuning an impact has been relatively well documented, might be difficult for us to bring anything "new" to the table with our own video, other than saying we did it XD, also you might want to consider an 800mm barrel to keep your efficiency up with velocities etc, waste less air, get more shots per fill.

Hello, I have a 500 mm fx crown with the slugs linner in .22 cal, playing with the regulator at 150 bars and the hammer at maximum only gives me 870 fps with a 21 grain Nielsen slug, I also have the original barrel for the same fx in cal .30 in 600 mm and with the regulator at 155 bars it gives me 860 fps with a 45 grain jsb,. Have no idea how the QC is now but I owned an Impact MK1 and it was far and away the least reliable PCP that I have ever owned and after only less than a year sold the dang thing as I have no use for a unreliable rifle. All I can say about my one example is the only good thing about it was it was not hard to get rid of it as KZbin made it simple LOL and the so called "Hype" is 100& unfounded in every respect. I have had less problems in a 3 year time span with 4 different rifles than a Impact in the space of less than a year! That made me not want to purchase anything FX ever again... Not saying that FX is junk BUT my one example was most certainly for the lack of a better word trash. As soon as it got back from warranty work for the THIRD TIME I sold it as it spent more time being "Fixed" as it was in my possession!
