Don't think anybody has said this yet, but the dog cancer thing is entirely real. It's called TVT, or Transmissible Venereal Tumor. Its a dog cancer that underwent a strange mutation that allows it to spread between different dogs as an STD, or any other skin-to-skin contact. It's one of only three known infectious cancers in mammals, the other two being found in Tasmanian devils and hamsters. Its also quite interesting as, as far as taxonomy is concerned, its still part of the canine family tree! We also know, from the cancer's DNA, that it came from a pre-contact Native American dog. Estimates range between 6,000 and 11,000 years for its original creation. Anyway, I don't necessarily think Big D was trying to compare it to a disease, so much as a mutation that created an organism that, while once human (or in this case, canine) now exists only to perpetuate itself by infecting and hijacking the body of other members of its kind.

Theres a fun example of the level of trust some special Ghouls get from their Kindred masters: On the rare occasions where a child is embraced into Vampirism, they will have one or two ghouls that serve as their surrogate "Parents", this is because even if that vampire has a high rank within their society, or is of a more powerful generation, there are some things they simply cannot do in a childs body and be taken seriously. This example in question was of a Prince's ghoul (the highest up the chain within the localized branches of the Camarilla. Think of a state governor or the mayor of a particularly large city.) The Prince in this situation was a child, so entrusted their ghoul with arranging court and the day to day operations of the Camarilla. It is of note that prior to this none of the vampires of this city knew this was the Prince, as they had everything done through their ghoul as an intermediary. One day, a particularly uppity and stupid vampire within the court struck the Prince's ghoul across the face, because they were tired of listening to someone they (wrongly) thought beneath them. The Prince learned of this, and *in the middle of court, tore the other vampire to shreds in full view of everyone else, the entire time screaming "You hurt my Mommy" until there was nothing left but a red smear on the floor*

Quick Correction to what you just said: that story was from Vampire: The Requiem so it wasn’t a Camarilla prince but Invictus and ghouls have a slightly different status in Requiem in that A ghoul families often have special bonuses and weakness to them, depending on the family and their job in vampire society and B often are considered an extension of their vampire masters will to the extent where a ghoul can sometimes speak on a torpid vampires behalf and a vampire overly abusing a ghoul publicly is kind of considered to be equivalent to a mentally ill person who likes to punch himself in the face according to one story in the Requiem second edition core book

⁠@@maciejas2471 the story the OP mentioned is actually from Requiem and is notable because Requiem Vampires usually don’t sire children as vampires because the last time in history that was common it led to a group of child vampires called the children’s Crusade and the children’s Crusade became very corrupt even by vampire standards. Like corrupt to the point where the other vampire covenants teamed up to wipe them out to the last one. So the child prince in the story is a rare exception to the custom of not embracing children

So to clarify, vampires actually don't need to Ghoul animals to control them, although it DOES make them more effective. Imagine a field mouse being able to single-handedly take down a dog and you have a pretty good idea of what kinds of physical changes it can impose, but it also tends to make animals marginally more intelligent and receptive to the commands of the vampire in question. For instance, a vampire could allow a vicious guard dog to bite them and taste their blood, and in the process immediately establish a Blood Bond that would not only have the guard dog treat the vampire like a beloved friend, but also more receptive to their commands and body cues. However, Ghouling an animal doesn't mean it can actually communicate complicated messages unless it was already capable of doing so previously, so a dog might be able to identify friend from foe, but it wouldn't be able to describe them in any appreciable way, whereas something like a chimpanzee or a raven might be able to actually give a report through sign language or pictograms if they have the capacity to do so. This is where the Discipline of Animalism comes in. In its most basic form it mimics the effects of training or the Blood Bond in animals, allowing a vampire to call upon them and direct them with orders through a limited form of telepathy and mind-control. At higher levels, the vampire can communicate with animals, read their thoughts, and even project their minds into animals to control them directly, among other powers. This means that a vampire who has access to Animalism does not need to Ghoul and Blood Bond animals to make them effective spies or guard animals, and they can still Ghoul them regardless to make more effective servants out of them. Animalism is also fairly broad in its applications, allowing vampires to control most non-intelligent creatures quite easily and even influence, say, the Beast of another vampire or the Rage of a werewolf, although these are far more advanced applications. Still, the sky is pretty much the limit with Animalism and it can be frighteningly powerful with the right application of even its most basic forms.

- UV light wont work, there was a mission in vampire masquerade bloodline 1 where that was tested (and to this day that game is canon right?). Radiation wont affect a vampire until it is heavy (it act half way between a poison and a burn effect i think). Also the whole sun weakness has no scientific reasoning behind it. Its a curse thrown onto the face of Caine by god itself (or one of his angels) to punish him for the murder of Caine's, Abel. While arch-mage can cure the curse of vampirism, negating their weakness of the sun would either go against the will of all mankind (creature of the night fear the ray of the sun) or the will of God himself. That would result the silly mage being bi***slap into oblivion by all the paradox in the universe. There are some shit in the night you just dont mess with... - The comparison between vampirism and a parasyte CAN be accurate since vampire have a thing called the beast eating at their humanity inside. It is a long term thing, but when vampire gets older than a normal human lifespan, almost all of their mortal family and friends have expired, you must have killed innocents quite a few time to survive and seen many horrors in the dark of the night. After all that, you do feel and act alienated from humanity. See them as nothing but dumb and expandable food. But when you dont, when you feel a link between you and a mortal, you might be tempted to... bring them alone into the night... for company (mouahahahahahaha).

The Volgirre, a bloodline of the Toreador who went and joined the Sabbat and learned Vicissitude from the Tzimisce, then many of them quietly slipped back into the Camarilla via the mainline Toreador. They're probably even WORSE than the Tzimisce in some ways. The Tzimisce are generally more apathetic to suffering that sadistic, at least the older ones, they think of the agony and screams of their victims through Vicissitude as simply part of the process or a box to check on a requirement list. They think of the pain of their victims as something to hone in pitch and tenor in the same way a painter wants the perfect shade of a color. The Volgirre, though? They RELISH all the pain and agony they inflict and go out of their way to cause it for entertainment and jollies. They were even the ones who refined a way to enhance the pain receptors of the victim to make it even more agonizing.

- hummm... the police officier breaking his bond is most likely due to neglect from the Regent not bothering upholding it rather than her not being competent to keeping the maintenance up (did constable whats-its-name mention falling out of favor or was it Kevin?). Could also be a choice, he was in severe withdrawal state but ready to blow up the police station for more vitae, that's one way to keep an employee motivated and she has enough dirt on him to be sure he wont think about overt betrayal... by himself... i can see this work. - New ghoul vs new vampire born from 2 average humans: vampire win 8-9 out of 10. Vampire can heal almost all damage faster than a ghoul can, within a single combat (only 1 of those 2 can re-attach a severed limb). They can soak twice the non-lethal damage and the lethal damage at all (bullet hole mean bleeding for a ghoul with a functioning heart, a vampire will feel some pain AND redirect his attention). Also vampire get 3 time more vampiric power from start than ghoul do. After that... and old ghoul (say decades or century old) vs a new vampire, one who might have been told about vampire powers and weaknesses... now we are going around a ratio of 4-6 out of 10 victory for the new leeche.

If he can choose the time of the fight (near dawn if possible), the place/environment and the weapons of the fight... mortals have taken down vampire in the past in a last ditch effort. Vampire can and usually will have bigger vitae reserve... but those can be depleted (healing/vampire powers), all disciplines have weakness that can be exploited... beyond that: fire is an almost universal power in WOD.

One thing I think this video does leave out from the lore is that, depending on a ghoul's age...some of them can't be saved! Once they outlive a normal mortal lifespan, they NEED to continue drinking vitae! If it's weened out of their system, they begin aging again...incredibly rapidly! The aging process may kill them, even if they haven't outlived their mortal years, but it'll certainly turn them to dust, the same as if you'd killed an elder kindred. The only real 'out' for those elder ghouls, besides accepting their fate, is the embrace - their Domitor choosing to make them into a kindred. Some will be granted that, especially if their Domitor has taken the time to teach them several disciplines and was grooming them for the embrace all along...but others, may not be so lucky.

So I do have a tale about a rather unorthodox Ghouling involving a character of mine own. He's a Follower of Set (kudos for those who know that Clan) and he went through the normal hoops and trials necessary to become a vampire of that Clan... but he is naturally Unbondable (as in he has the merit that says he cannot be blood bound period), which got him fast tracked to the Warrior training. Skip ahead to the chronicle he's in where he has a small temple dedicated to Ares (one of the approved "faces" of Set, although he has enough awareness to draw a distinction between the two for his own sake) and he has a Ghoul, his first acolyte... but... said Ghoul is not bound, yet still maintains his status because before my vampire Ghouled him, he made sure to learn a lovely bit of his Clan's sorcery (albeit through a more Hellenist, or Greek Pagan, route) to make what is literally "magic blood booze" that a: can keep a Ghoul powered up without the threat of the Bond, and b: can actually be imbibed by vampires who can also get drunk off it... without the threat of the bond. His reasoning: he's Unbondable, he's not sure his acolyte is so he's not going to risk it and ensure that said acolyte keeps their own sense of self through all this.

speaking of vampires that 'graceful' step of the stage of humanity. that is a thing that happens most often with fledging's, especially with in anarchs and sometimes with in the carmilia do. though such things can often come more down to the blood line rather than the sect. for example among the Ventrue, and Toreador tend to cought their would be fledgling for many mouths or even years before the embrace. sometimes educating them slowly in the way of the vampire and sometimes though from what ive heard its rare. that sometimes a would be fledgling is ghould for a time before the embrace though the whay ive being told thats more a Tremere, Tzimisce thing to do clan Tzimisce is even by vampire standeds are odd bunch. as their split between the flesh warpers among the sabot and 'old' chan Tzimisce which are more your dracula stereo type and neather emance on a whim. and almost always with in long standing and 'crafted' and 'managed' blood lines. they go a lot into the revernate family thing. lots of ugentics goning on with the fiends

How strong a ghoul can become depends on which book / version you’re using! if you listen to say the 20th anniversary tome 13th-8th gen vampires can only teach their ghouls 1st level discipline. While 7th could teach up to 2nd level, 6th to 3rd etc. So any ghouls of a 4th Gen or lower could essentially be almost as powerful as a full kindred - should there Domitor so desire it. But, the Ghouls +Revenants book retconned that table a bit. allowing 10th+9th generation to teach them 2nd level powers, 7th+8th 3rd level, and 6th-5th 4th level. Then V5 came along and everyone can only learn up to level 1 again unless they wanna take aggravated damage. 🙄

Also, unless I misread, I think a group of Japanese soldiers in ww2 did similar on the battlefield as an intimidation tactic. I would infer that he represents the more "traditional", more "refined" if you will, type of Tzimisce: lordly, dignified, dissonantly courteous, with principles he follows to a T and, obviously, being old (proto-) Balkanian nobility like most Tzimisce of his time. If I recall correctly, the clan only developped its knack for fleshcrafting relatively late in its history (though I absolutely wouldn't know at what exact time). Perhaps that would explain why Vlad is more in line with the traditional east-european vampire, and not the stereotypical Dark Eldar-type freak the Tzimisce are know for being.
