That dude who lived in an airport for 11 years that Tom Hanks made a movie about, he wasn't stateless, he was just very early for his flight. He knew the traffic was always bad in his ex-Soviet nation of Flabberjanistan so he booked a flight a decade in advance, made some sandwiches, and headed off to the airport with a duffel bag full of jigsaw puzzles. Ironically he still missed his flight by sleeping-in and just stuck around for an extra year because he was only half way through a 1500-piece puzzle of the Kremlin. It's all in the wikipedia article I haven't written yet.

The UK has a myriad of these fly-on-the-wall docudramas, The Office (the original UK show) started off as a parody of these types of shows showing the comedic, and awkward, inner workings of a paper company. There is 'Dirty Britain' and 'Call the Cleaners', these two shows follow the exploits of sewage workers, council refuse collectors and forensic teams who have to clean up after people. 'One born Every Minute' which follows the exploits of various midwifery teams throughout the UK delivering babies, then there is '24hrs in A&E' which follows the going-ons of hospital emergency departments, that can be quite gory. There about 6 or 7 shows based on Police/Fire/Paramedic crews as they travel the country dealing with problems and people who create problems, they have names that always include the emergency services number so 'Heli 999', 'Country 999', etc. There's been one or two shows on trawler fishing, showing what the crews get up to when away from the family in the middle of the Atlantic. There's been a show based on oil rigs in the North Sea. A show about farmers and farm life. Several shows based on veterinarians (Brits really love animals), the best one is Supervet, he builds prosthetics for crippled animals. Yeah, basically around 1995 someone made a show where cameras followed someone around as they did their job and then ten minutes later every network had a dozen clones of that show, and now there are hundreds of them... The US makes similar shows, and those likely predate ours since Cops goes waaaay back, but the American shows are all glamour, action, staged scenes and completely unrealistic escapades. America did fly-on-the-wall wrong by trying to turn real-life stuff into Hollywood stuff when most people want to see real life stuff :)

I can't understand why many people believe the airline will hold an aircraft just for them!
@Jimmy-qg2ix5 жыл бұрын
I don't think they think of it as holding an aircraft. They are usually there 20 or so minutes before the flight actually takes off so they are thinking it is as easy as hopping on a bus and don't realize all that is involved with the takeoff process. When I was 20 I arrived 5 minutes late for check-in at a small regional airport and I had to sit down and watch everyone go through security and actually board my flight and takeoff. Paid an extra $110 dollars to catch a later flight. I'm a calm guy, so I just went with the flow, but at the time I really didn't understand why I couldn't just walk onto my flight with everyone else.
@fat50455 жыл бұрын
sometimes the plane does hold for people who are late, I’ve experienced it twice. so annoying, cause you’re just sitting there on your seat and waiting for people who couldn’t bother showing up early for their flight, meanwhile you did everting to catch the flight on time. so annoying.

@marionmelia29625 жыл бұрын
MrVidification so its just alcohol on the plane. Not exaclty the explanation i was looking for. You could say something like "as you drink alcohol its absorbed at a natural rate, the altitude of the plane and (insert bullshit here) means your blood thins and the alcohol circulates alot faster causing some magic thing that makes alcohol 3x more effective" idk.
@warhawk95664 жыл бұрын
@@marionmelia2962 you seem to get i dont get why you gotta throw in "magic" though
@youwot24304 жыл бұрын
you dont really get more drunk in terms of your blood alcohol percentage is the same, but it may have a greater effect. because of the lower pressure, this already causes very mild hypoxia on board which can produce similar effects to alcohol intoxication. the humidity is very low, so the dehydration can cause you to become more inebriated than usual. I think its exaggerated when people say you get 3 times as drunk. the alcohol is the same, its just that it may feel a little stronr

Attitude is the only benefit of being near the bottom of the food chain in customer service, you can get away with moments of 'attitude', though you will likely get a ticking off by your boss when you do it. It's when you start to climb the ladder that you have to sacrifice your integrity and become a 'yes man' (or 'yes woman') - in many professions it is rank that gives you the ability to be direct with customers but in customer service it is the lack of rank that gives you that ability since more-often-than-not a 9-5 jobsworth can argue back at a customer, it is then their superior that has to come out and swallow their dignity and say "Yes, sir/Ma'am, we'll do that, we'll sort this out and give you a credit balance to spend. We're awfully sorry, can we lick your asshole any further or will that be all?"
