Airline Pilot Takes on Leadville 100 Ultramarathon

Join along for my first ever ultramarathon run race. The Leadville trail 100. This is 100 miles in the highest elevation town in Colorado named Leadville. Before this I ran one marathon and after that was given the opportunity from Coros to run this iconic race. I knew I couldn’t turn down this opportunity considering it’s a very hard race to receive an invitation to. Ultimately it was the hardest physical feat of my life but we got the job done. The cutoff time was 30 hours and I finished it in 29 hours and 33 minutes. From start to finish I was racing those cut off times and wouldn’t have made it without my incredible team by my side. Shoutout to the crew Israel Palacio, Ka’imi Kuoha, Andrew Shelly, Brock Covington, Ty Morris, Anthony Diaz. Doing hard things with your friends brings you closer and this event really brought us together and turned the friendship into family. I got two questions for you. Since doing the race how long do you think training should take? Also do you think training in Colorado would’ve made a difference than training in Florida? Great job on the race you did incredible!

For something like this I think at least 6 months would be best. I wish I trained a bit more. And yes training in Colorado more definitely would’ve helped. Thanks so much 🙏🏽

Congrats on the great achievement! It is insanely hard - my first one was 50miler, and tried twice the Siskiyou Out and back 100k but could not make it to cutoff time - racing in mountains is so hard. You did it from the first shot - amazing!
