There are very few pictures of Braniff's 747''s at Boston Logan, and now you actually have a video! This is amazing! I was in high school just outside of Boston when Braniff first came to Logan in 1978.It was so exciting to see Braniff Flying Colors and also Piedmont's Pacemakers at my home airport. Thank you for the video!!

Loving this channel. This airline an all the classic airliners are sorely missed. God bless the 727.

This video brings back so many memories. Braniff really was a class act even though they had some problems. Service in 1st class was 2nd to none just like TWA International and Royal Ambassador trans con.

Amazing footage, thank you for sharing this with us. I remember flying on that orange 747 between HNL and LAX in 1979 during the grounding of the DC-10s. It was a treat because we had always non-rev'd on WA's 10s!

Awww nice, I have 2 or 3 Big Orange 747s parked at Ewa concourse, just wishing I come across more! It's out there I know...and I will find it and share it for ALL to see. But you were lucky, you caught a few rides! I clocked up plenty of miles non-revving on Western as well, man..when non-revving was a thrill! You never knew what would happen - getting on, not hard at all but getting that bump UP seemed more than 50-50 odds, esp. if you knew someone!

@@Starboard76 Looking forward to seeing that footage of those Big Orange 747s at HNL! Great that you captured all this content! Non-reving was definitely a thrill...flying positive space these days is definitely not as exciting. We'd always sit close to the podium at the boarding gate, I recall that anxious feeling as we started to hear the "NRSA" boarding passes being spit out of the printer lol!!!

Harding Lawerence loaded up Braniff with staggering debt as he over expanded the airline. 747 service from Boston was a disaster with dismal load factors and rising fuel costs. He couldn’t shrink the airline fast enough to stop the financial bleeding. It all came to a sad end for the flying colors of Braniff in 1982.

Richard RT Simpson, HE SURE DID. In particular, it's those additional 747's he added to the fleet beyond Big Orange that killed the carrier's balance sheet. Also, he broke the cardinal rule in commercial aviation route expansion: don't fly where there's stiff competition. Instead, fly where others don't or won't, for maximum profit.

I don't think that's possible. Braniff shut down in 1982.

Personally, I prefer the original orange scheme of Big Orange, i.e. the one with white text on the fuselage, white vertical stabiliser, and classy white engine nacelles.
