No they don’t. Throwing a bag takes a lot of effort, especially if it is overloaded. Rolling a bag along on four wheels is much preferable as it is less effort and less damaging to your back and arms. Roll what you can, only chuck what you have to is my mantra. Making sure your bag has four wheels will reduce the need for it to be thrown. Two-wheel or zero-wheel bags being bulk loaded onto an aircraft WILL be thrown, there’s no other way of doing it except with a power stow and they’re not that common. Don’t overload your bag either. The heavier it is the more kinetic energy it has when moving and the more likely it will be damaged when it comes to a sudden stop if thrown. Don’t struggle to close the zip. The zip is one of the weakest parts of the bag and is the one under most strain. If you have to force the zip to close then it is much more likely to burst on impact.

That’s the possibly the dumbest thing you do to your luggage. What a great way to either a- break your ipad, or b- have your ipad get stolen. What are you going to do if you get a TSA line that requires you to put electronics separate? “Oh hang on while I cut these giant zip ties” then are you going to carry extra giant zip ties to refasten your ipad after security screening? Dumb, just put your ipad in its protective sleeve and store it in your back pack or carry on like normal smart people do.
