The main reason to go to arctic is to get arctic gas. The arctic gas variant of the airships are way better than the helium ones.

i have read this also but compare the stats they are identical? I think they balanced them in a patch or something they have same slots and speed? i think ill save gas for the better power plants, no rails or seaport and better range.

@@everquestfan once you have built the ship, select it and there will be a helium or arctic gas icon displayed on the ship panel. Hover over it and you will see the bonus they give you. Helium offer hp bonus while arctic gas offer a range of speed bonuses.

So set producing islands to local mail lifestyle only and only allow artisan + to use mail? you only want engineers and investors consuming correct?

Mail is produced by mailboxes and post offices only if there are residences within its' radius, otherwise they act as additional storage for mail. Thus, it is impossible to only have producers or consumers of mail and it's incorrect to state that. You can choose not to enable mail but that is your choice and game play. Do not use small airships that have low loading speeds as shown. I exclusively use 3 bay airships with 120% loading speed for mail(e.g. much faster than Colibris) and if they are carrying more than 50 tons at any time, I add enhancement items for speed and cargo slowdown. You need your round trip times consistent. With few exceptions, don't use airships to deliver anything else but mail. They will hog your air platform and delay mail delivery. If you do, upgrade an island pier and associate it with the airship cargo so they don't go to the, very slow, airship platform. Arctic is an exception -- where you can't use cargo ships for plateaus. If I need to deliver/take more than 150 tons of mail per ship, I'll add another 3 bay airship. Start by loading 1 ton both ways to find out the round-trip time. you need to solve the following equation: P - D >= X1/T1 + X2/T2 + ... + XN/TN. Where P is the mail production of the island, D is the demand of the island (or consumption). Basically P - D is how much mail you can afford to give away and yes, if you consistently give too much mail away with low population islands (i.e. arctic), population and income will suffer. X1 is how much mail is being delivered to island 1. T1 is the round -trip time for island 1 and so on. Do this for each island. Example of a single island delivery: 177/m - 77/m >= X1/5m. Solving for X1 gives us X1

That's a respectable wall of text you got there, but a lot of useful ideas and information, thank you! I'm still struggling to balance the mail routes. It's kinda frustrating that surplus mail are just thrown out/discarded when you transport too much of it. I will try to use your equation. =)

the arctic gives the over seas / arctic report mails sure dont need arctic ships the new ones are better, but the reports are if you want happy mail customers. you skipped the mail guide part on how those work. kinda half arsed the vid you did. if you give a guide at least input some info on all the slots of mail types you skipped that entirely so how to generate arctic and new world reports, and over seas.

I have started to love your videos click, but for 9's sake, turn off the notification click for trade route warnings! click. Go to alerts on the left click, then click the little filter triangle at the top click, then uncheck trade click route warnings. That'll stop you click from receiving click the really annoying click every few click seconds for things you very well likely click don't care about (ships waiting to load/unload click) The CLICK is really annoying, even more so while watching a video! XD

Dunno, little weird what you do here... first of all, they load and unload mail pretty much instant, the whole loading process is really fast, nothing like cargoships at all. Than you use ONE ship to deliver mail from ONE island to anotherisland. Like this you need at least 3 airships PER island in the whole game just for airmail... you will not make profit out of it cause airships are pricey, especially mid-game. The way you show it, its only possible if you more or less have infinte income. Thats not how things are done. And arctic ships are not worthless, indeed they are better you should check the buff, or better said... debuff of the helium. And its just not right to use island only as "consuming" mail or "produce" mail. They all benefit from mail in a huge way and only if you use mail for all the island where a good amount of people live you will make a good profit and running mail system. You system is practically just... burning money without much benefit. But well... with infinite income its not an issue? But what if you NEED to make a profit out of it? Not a good guide, at least it explains how you even gain regional and oversea mail, but for that 10 seconds would be enough.
