Great video thank you. I lived in Katherine in 1980 and 81, when you flew from Sydney or Melbourne to Adelaide, then took a 727 from Adelaide to Alice, and changed to a Fokker F27 Friendship for the flight to Tennant Creek, Katherine and Darwin.From Alice to Darwin was known as the " Milk Run" in those days. The Federal Government had the "two airline policy " where TAA and Ansett operated identical aircraft on the route, leaving within 10-15 minutes of each other. Sometimes we had to circle while watching the other one land. This was also the case at Katherine where there was no airfield control tower, before the RAAF turned into the large base they have today, and the aircraft had to do a circuit to check for no obstructions ( usually bulls) on the runway. They left Alice at lunchtime, and left Darwin again the next morning at about 8 am.

Yes the aircraft was usually almost full, as there were only two services each day in each direction.

well, it was holiday season so not many business travellers, i guess not that many people need to go to tennant creek a couple of days after christmas, by plane anyway. fortunately the government subsidise this route
