Oh, my.... Primate..... I'll give you some classics to watch.... many of which I've not seen any reaction channels do (so you would be the first!), although, one or two may have been done by the rare channel. I don't know WHY these movies aren't getting any attention..... but anyway.... here goes, my friend: "The Black Hole" (1979, Disney's first PG rated movie (is on Disney+ but you have to use the Search bar to find it)), "Time Bandits" (1981), "Bad Boys" (1983 with Sean Penn, not the "newer" movies), "The Bad News Bears" (1976), "Biodome" (1996), "Brewster's Millions" (1985), "Cool Hand Luke" (1967), "Cannonball Run" (1 and 2... they are hilarious with all star casts!), "Fame" (1980), "Firefox" (1982), "The Final Countdown (1980), "The Toy" (1985, I think)... There, that should keep you busy for a while. ;) Oh, and did you ever watch Grandma's Boy? I forget... I know that IF you did, I already left a Like on it and watched it.... but I'll go have a look after this movie and find out for sure. That is the absolute funniest movie I've ever seen in my LIFE!

You could go through with coins in your pocket without detection. They were looking for guns, not coins or keys. You didn't need to remove anything from your bag like they make you do with laptops today. They also did random pat-downs. I'd say it was more efficient back then.

Don’t forget this is a movie, it scripted, and it is a comedy. That means exaggerations of the truth. Even if this wasn’t a slapstick comedy, it would still exaggerate the truth so don’t think everything in a movie is true to life, especially old movies such as this one. No one was asked to takeoff their prosthetics when they were going through metal detectors at the airport. The metal detector would go off and they would just have to tell the security that they have a prosthetic. The security would wave the metal detector wand over their body to make sure it was only their prosthetics and not any type of weapon

Primate, my man! Hope all is well with you! Airplane is very much both a product of its time, and a literal "snapshot" of life in the US in 1980. I know that many of the references and some of the jokes will go over your head, but that's not your fault. Those will be "pop culture" references that only people who lived during that time (such as myself) will get. I'll try to catch some of the ones you don't get, and point them out.... but I'm sure others in the comments will do the same. But hey, brother, I'm not throwing any shade on you over it. I like to think I've got a better reputation than that. I'll only point them out so that you can appreciate that kind of reference being in a movie with "rapid fire" humour like this. 2:00 - Two things: Yeah, those "people" at the airports used to be REALLY common, which is why it's a running joke throughout the movie. I think a law was put in place to put a stop to it, though.... but I haven't been to an airport in nearly 2 decades. Also, yeah, that is how security was before 9-11. 3:00 - Jimmy Walker (the guy cleaning the windows and all) was the HOTTEST young comedian at the time. He's smiling because it was part of his "character trait" on the sitcom "Good Times" that he starred in. He would clap his hands, smile that smile, and yell, "Dyn-O-MITE!!" and it was his trademark thing. If you've never seen the show, I recommend it. Believe it or not, Janet Jackson (yes, Michael's little sister) joined the cast fairly early on. Shit, we got a storm.... so I'm going to save this so I don't have to worry about re-typing it.....

1. I guess I picked the wrong week to stop watching "first time reaction" Airplane clips. 2. This movie requires more than one watch in order to catch as much as possible. Little things to look for: Ted was in the Air Force but at the bar he's wearing a Navy Lt. uniform. Elaine's trombone at the bar sounds like a trumpet. One of the fish was a freshwater catfish. A woman throws a baby into the air when the plane crashes through the window. Two Hari Krishnas actually fly out of the airport. There are raindrops gathered on a high speed airplane. Captain Kramer steps out of a mirror before leaving for the airport. The woman with the horse in bed is the creepy Captain Oveur's wife. She is also hitting on to Captain Kramer. It's a jet but the background noise is of a prop plane. The ambulance crashes after the plane lands. 3. Otto/Auto pilot has his own webpage on IMDB 4. Elaine has permission to sit on MY face. 5. IMVHO Airplane II is good too, destination moon.

When the plane starts up, it is a perfect spoof of a 1944 tearjerker wartime movie, Since You Went Away. The soldier is saying goodbye to his girl at the train station and the conductor comes up to him, pulls out his pocketwatch and says in the exact same tone in Airplane "Better get on board, son." The soldier does but stands in the vestibule between cars, with the upper half of the dutch door open. He and his girl continue to say goodbye as the train slowly picks up speed, as indicated by the chugging sound (ditto in Airplane). Then he tosses her his watch. Now she has to start running to stay apace and nearly runs into a series of station platform lampposts. The full movie is on KZbin but you can also just watch this train scene: Since You Went Away, chasing the train

This is the first time I’m watching this channel and I can honestly say that this guy has a better understanding of the movie than a lot of people his age. Some of them are so clueless as to sarcasm and slapstick that almost all the jokes go over their heads. They take the jokes literally but this young man understood that it is a dark comedy and he laughed at a lot more than I’ve seen other people under the age of 40, usually Americans, who don’t seem to get it. the grainy nature of the older films is because they were made on just that...actual film. in the 2000s moving into the 2010s, they began really pushing toward filming everything on digital, which a lot of people aren't a fan of. even the 'remastering' of some films to blu-ray or 4k isn't that great. especially with animated films, you lose a lot of the finer hand-drawn details when the digital filtering is done. and in movies like the lord of the rings trilogy, i personally feel like a lot of the fantasy ambience and feel is completely lost when things become crisper and less ethereal looking. i hope they find a happy medium in the years to come because great films could be even greater when made with the equipment most suited to it...

(alternatively titled Flying High!)[5] is a 1980 American parody film written and directed by the brothers David and Jerry Zucker, and Jim Abrahams in their directorial debuts,[6] and produced by Jon Davison. It stars Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty and features Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Lorna Patterson.[6] It is a parody of the disaster film genre, particularly the 1957 Paramount film Zero Hour!, from which it borrows its plot and central characters,[7] also drawing many elements from Airport 1975 and other films in the Airport series. It is known for its use of surreal humor and fast-paced slapstick comedy, including visual and verbal puns, gags, running jokes, and obscure humor.”
