Fell for the fakes on eBay, twice! First pair; the right earpiece didn't charge in its case and the second pair wouldn't allow for noise cancelling because my phone couldn't detect that both earbuds were in my ears. In both instances, I couldn't link it to my Find My because it said that there was an original owner that still had them linked to 'their' account and they could see my location when I was using them... 😓 I eventually just went all in and got the real set from Apple, but I must say the packaging was so, so incredibly similar and very hard to detect what's real and what's not unless you know what you're looking for. One thing I noticed on both fakes - the boxes were wrapped in plastic and the real ones weren't. I don't know if the 'original owner' could see my location when I was using the fakes, but beware! Sadly it goes without saying if the price is too good to be true, it is!

I had a guy come up to me at a gas station asking for gas money he had a kid in the back license plates from Montana. Well I said it would not be a problem cuz I could see his gas gauge was very low. I was skeptical cuz he gave me these airpod pros 2 right away but then he tried to give me an apple watch for 200 I made sure I was using my card to swipe for gas not let him use my card. He got a full tank. $40 which not complaining but I'm sure it was a scam

The biggest problem I have with most fakes is that they lack Apple features. They’ll technically have Spatial Audio but you can’t use head tracking and noise cancellation doesn’t actually work

Probably a lot of the components are from the factory that makes the actual airpods. Also, what the phone gets is a signature, a code, which can be emulated. It's just code, you can program a chip to say it's apple if you know the apple code. I guess the right contacts, probably greased some palms, I don't know

I sent my husband to buy a pair of real AirPod pros because I needed something to block out the noise while I was listening to the audio from my courses. I watched a ton of videos and read a bunch of articles to educate myself so I wouldn’t get ripped off. I told my husband what to look out for and to compare them against his VERY closely to make very daaam sure they were real. When he came back I asked if he checked and he was like “yeah, they look the same.” I couldn’t get the cancelling to work so I took them to the Apple Store. The tech showed me all the things that were different on them. My husband didn’t even look past the case and I ended up with reps that don’t have sound cancelling! Mine are exactly like the counterfeits in this video. They’re exactly like the real ones except without the noise cancellation… which is why I paid $300 instead of $15. Seriously 😂
