I don't think you understand what a lot of California is.. it's not "forest" its scrub. It is super dense, hard to walk through scrublands- a lot of it is very mountainous and hard to access. It was a very rain season for 2 years also, increasing a lot of vegetation growth- but again, it's almost impossible to clear it without goats, or mother nature's usual method- fire.

It cleary says in the new press release that it was caused by a spark from heavy machinery being used, fires are common here especially during these months, it happens almost every year. But, it is still scary for our communities close to the fires. Praying this gets taken care of soon the air quality is horrible and my loved ones work near the area.

The record being referred to isn't the all time heat record. It is the record for hottest temperature on that calendar date. The hottest September 9th in Los Angeles prior to this was in 1956, when a temperature of 102F was recorded.
