when you have passed security and see your flight on the scoreboard, that’s when vacation starts!
I had connecting flight with just little time in between them, walked for 15 min. so fast that my apple watch ask if i want to record my outdoor walk and arrived at me gate just one coffee before boarding! Perfect!
No matter where I am flying in from, I always look out of the window if I can, and try to find the Island when we approach.
This time it was obvious ! With the Atlantic ocean on the right, the landmass in the middle and water to the left, it was clear that we whee flying over the Bay of Samana!
Over the wintertime Humpback whales come and mate here. Also the new baby’s are born in the warm water. If you book an excursions to Parque Los Haitises, this is where you go!
Higuey, The capital of the Province La altagracia with the famous Basilica, de nuestra Señora de la altagracia.

Secrets Cap Cana, Hyatte, Margarita Ville or Sanctury Cap Cana you can already see it at the Horizon.
Landing approach is usly from the Land side, so if you are sitting on the right side of the plane you can see it.
Right now in September 2024, we have two Terminals at the Punta Cana airport. A and B. A being the first and older terminal still gives you the real caribbean feeling once you step out of the plane. Hot and Humid, without air-conditioning, where at Terminal B you walk through the closed gateway into the Airconditined passport control and baggaged claim.
It is not allowed to film or use your phone during Passport control, but I can already tell you that there is the first toilet, just to your left when you enter the building.
The Duty Free shop.
Punta Cana airport has a duty free shop at he the arrival Terminal. if you still below your allowance, you are welcome to shop here for cigarets and alkohol, among other things.
The information on how much you can bring is a bit conflicting in my google search, godominicanrepublic is usually right.

The Luggage belts are all equipped with monitors, so you can easily find yours. The Bell boys at Punta Cana airport can help you with your luggage but I must pass on how much it is per item right now. Maybe one of you know’s and can comment below in the comments section.
You can exchange money here, but it’s never the best exchange rate they give you! You get a better one at every Casa de Cambio.
There is also a new bar at arrival, where you can get drinks and snacks.
