Airport work today is really tough. Baggage handlers, cleaners, checking staff start first shift at 2am, and late shift ends at 1am, they work a different shift nearly every day, plus engine fumes constantly hanging in the airport air. not recommended to anyone who cares for their physical and mental health

Someone is supposed to be guiding the belt-loader driver to and from the aircraft. Also, you should be wearing a face shield when pumping the lav, luggage should not be tossed onto anything, and the aircraft at the end should have had a dispatcher ready to salute the aircraft as soon as the push-back and other ramp agents were far enough away.

@bikrtc it is crystal clear, I agree with you, but i put it to ya once you've damaged an aircraft you will drive aroun aircraft very carefully. I spent 15 years in the airline industry and lots of it doing breakdowns on aircraft equipment

I did 15 years at a major airline in Australia and did what you did too. I did mainly breakdowns

Ramp operation must be done carefully .. if not aircraft demage will occur . Ramp is hard work .. work load needs to shared out . We get lazy people in ramp teams this ailment is widespread . If you have a good team you will really enjoy getting aircraft loaded and unloaded with cargo other wise it's Hell . From rayhan ahmed T2 ramp Heathrow

What about getting suck into an active jet turbine engine, Ofcource common sense dictacts stands as far away as possible... are there any procedures on that?
@roxydog-db1pu6 жыл бұрын
Yes , stay clear of the area when air craft beacon is lite ,to become a ramp agent you have to pass a test common sense covers most of it, but there are lots of rules and guide lines and 100% is a passing grade to get the badge needed to be in the secure areas of the airport and on your job .

If you had any idea what you're talking about you wouldn't be asking that. What kind of fucking idiot would stand next to an operating jet engine? Sounds like natural selection..

@abchasi27 the driver of a belt or loader should have his eyes on the proximity of the aircraft door to his equipment...you don't need someone diverting attention with waving arms and hands. The equipement operator has the best view of what is happening. If he can't see, he doesn't know what he is doing. Managements idea of "safety" If he is having issues seeing because of bad visablity,( Rain/snow) then I am okay with a guideman.

for your very basic training...all these workers should be wearing gloves and ear defenders...loading the bulk hold baggage handles of bags should be facing the aircraft, and the other way for off loading.This is not Swissport- even they are better trained-
