My lord 5h 30 on a Boeing 737, this would be classed as a torture method back in the old day for being naughty. I endured 3h 45 to Heraklion two years ago and that was enough to a point now I only try to book 787 TUI flights when possible. Made me laugh the crew on the PA said while you are getting comfortable, in what fresh hell can I get comfy on this thing, great review sir👍

The average purchase price of a Boeing 737 800 is $106m. People expect to book flights on them for peanuts and then grumble when they get a budget service. If you want blankets, decent free food and a more comfy seat, book business class on another airline. Yep - it needs to be paid for.
@thegadaboutdad10573 ай бұрын
I take your point but I didn’t pay peanuts. This was a pricey flight!
@samjones3434 Жыл бұрын
Agreed airlines could be doing more to offer a bit more comfort on their longer short haul flights especially if a night flight. 6 hours on a crammed 737 shouldn’t be allowed. But with regards to seating there is plenty of info available online where you can view seat maps of different airlines which show you the good/bad seats so you can make a decision before booking any seats on a flight.
@thegadaboutdad1057 Жыл бұрын
I hear what you’re saying about the seats but surely the person I booked over the phone with also has that information at their fingertips? I don’t really want to start searching what aircraft type I’ll be in and then start searching on seat-guru, but that’s just me!
@samjones3434 Жыл бұрын
@@thegadaboutdad1057 the person on the phone probably has the same image as I would have when I pre-book my seats and it doesn’t show which seats are good/bad, it just shows all A and F seats (on a 737) as being window seats, so you could argue that is a failing on TUI’s systems part and maybe they could improve their software on the online pages. It’s personal choice but whenever I arrange a trip I’m very meticulous about every detail and try and get as much info and research as possible.
@thegadaboutdad1057 Жыл бұрын
I long for the ‘olden days’ when pre-booking seats wasn’t even a thing. Check-in early enough and you could have the extra leg-room seats at no extra charge. 😂

Treating medium haul as short, always been a bugbear, after 15 trips to Egypt weve given up, the flights ruin the holiday, Monarch were tolerable, but Tui are awful.Add on terrible departure times. Can only hope one day they get competition.

Agreed. An overnight trip in this size plane was no joy add on the lack of pillows etc the it becomes somewhat of an endurance test. 😊

Re Tui Flights, planes have always been the worst part for me, 6ft 2 and 56in Chest I do not look forward to it. Last year I went to Cyprus on the Dreamliner and paid for premium economy up front, superb there and back, this year went to Sharm on the 737 but paid for seat 4 aisle and it was not too bad, both flights great times, return was 3pm.Booked for Cyprus again for next year and again same premium seats on the Dreamliner. However last week changed it for Hurghada and booked seat 4 Aisle again, hopefully this will be ok again, I saved over a grand aswell so result. I was told by a Tui Captain last year that they have ordered more Dreamliners because the 737's will soon need replacing and the favoured package deals are further afield nowadays. Regarding the comments about choosing a budget airline, find me a deal that includes these carriers because I haven't and also never seen any budget airlines in the likes of Dubai, Doha, Saudi etc just like you will not see all the so called big boys in european destinations, its horses for courses.
@thegadaboutdad1057Ай бұрын
I’d be happier to fly on a Dreamliner to Hurghada. I don’t know I was traveling with TUI until after I’d booked. I know, I know, I should have checked first!

@@thegadaboutdad1057 Tui only use their own or Easy Jet to Egypt, and budget airlines from the relevant countries, ie Pegasus or Sun Express in Turkey. Keep up the good work though fella 👍

Great vid but what you do expect it’s a low budget airline so I don’t know why people expect Emirates service for cheap flights

You didn't seriously think that you would get the seats you book with TUI ? I booked 2 isle seats with extra leg room, paid extra and after changing my seats 3 times I got neither. TUI must use Ryanair to train their staff in customer care. Unless I have absolutley no other option I will never flyTUI again.

Regarding no in flight enter. etc I remember several trips to Tenerife in the 90s with Brittania airways (before this tui brand nonsense) on 757s and all had firstly the big tv screens in the ceiling and then smaller units every so many seats .As a nervous flyer it occupied my mind to some extent, however after a short break in flying we went again and asked a cabin crew member why there were no tv/enter. etc and he tried to tell me it was because it was " short haul". I replied that as far as I recollected airlines classed up to 4hrs short, over 4 to 8 medium and 8 hrs plus long and the canaries was 4 hrs plus(usually 4.30 average time).The old saying changing the goalposts never more truer. Needless to say I got no response when I queried it. I felt for you all in the video as I hate night flights cannot sleep so it drags even more. Instead of trying to hassle you to buy seats together(that never used to be a problem) extra legroom seats(I believe tui are one of the smallest pitch)and trying to sell overpriced food and drinks on board just add a few pounds to a ticket price and give us back some pleasure on a plane and make it feel special and not just a cramped means to get to our holiday!
@thegadaboutdad10573 ай бұрын
I agree with you 100%. I also remember a time when airline travel was more enjoyable. Those big screen we all had to watch were great. I remember flying with Air Canada to Toronto. We had The Birds going out and Jaws coming back! Not quite sure how the kids coped! 😂 Yeah, charge us a few more kid and bring back a tiny bit of comfort. It was doable then so it should be doable now!
