Airsoft field manager from the US here, and personally i do tend to have a distaste towards speedsofters, but not because of the playstyle, but the overwhelming amount of them that are just generally toxic. I have seen dozens of “mag-dumps” over petty arguments, and lots of general not hit calling. Many of the speedsofters ive encountered tend to not belive in the idea of “trades” so when they run in guns blazing and get shot 20 times while also shooting , they will keep playing because in their mind they hit them first even though there was miliseconds between shots and they are being shot by 5 different people. I will end saying though that i dont think all speedsofters are bad, ive definitely met some good and honorable ones, and i don’t think they will ruin airsoft. What does ruin airsoft, are the ones that post videos hurting others with magdumps etc, as if it is cool or funny as it inspires others to do the same.

I think the mentality comes from video games such as Counter Strike or similar where millisecond advantages make or break entire games. Alot of people probably think its 1-to-1 in airsoft, but don't realize that trading is alot more common IRL because we don't have a God computer overseer to tell who pulled the trigger first. Also, those competitive video games are EXTREMELY toxic so I guess that also translates over too. That tends to happen when people put too much emphasis on trying to win imo.

1. The idea that countries want to ban paintball and airsoft due to the idea that it promotes violence is insane, we cannot tolerate this government overreach, it’s the same thing they tried to do with video games, claiming it causes people to be violent. It’s a load of BS 2. I grew up playing airsoft in the early 2010s at the infamous SC Village in CA, USA. I watched as HPA was born and thus speedsofting became more common, at first it was toxic, rough and straight up not fair. HPA being fairly new was expensive so it was hard to acquire, as someone who loves the Milsim aspect of airsoft but loves the play style of fast paced rush the enemy, don’t sit around in spawn and attempt to snipe, I believe there is common ground, speedsoft has also allowed a huge technological bump in the quality and performance of airsoft guns as with that sport there is a need for precision.

I know some speedsofters that are really cool. And sometimes running around real fast can be fun, but my issue is when you try to mesh speedsoft with regular airsoft. Speedsoft is more like a competitive sport where they are more focused on winning than having fun. Most of us at recreational (non milsim) games are just playing casual and having a good time and not taking it seriously. In my experience, many (not all) speedsofters treat each game like a competition for money vs a casual game for fun, and that’s where the conflict comes in. Again, this is all just my opinion.

I am a "regular airsofter" and we have a couple speed softers at our regular field... and I really enjoy having them around. They can really alter the pace of the game. Our speedsofters are very respectful, helpful, and all about the team they're on. Our field is better for having them and they don't put themselves above anyone else. I did not think they were an issue, but individual people who ignore hits to try and get ahead are very troublesome. I play at an outdoor field with a lot of room and the issue I typically run into is that speedsofters push up way too far and either die where they cannot be revived or cheat their way to an advantage point. I do not mind the play style, but a lot of the people that play like this seem to act like they have something to prove on the field when everyone else is just trying to have a good time. For some speedsofters on my field, the cqb style is more like slow motion. You see the speedsofter quickly peek, one or two tap the enemy while retreating - the player that was hit does sometimes not even see the opponent at all. That makes everyone more cautious and slows down the gameplay without making it boring. Some even call out where they spot the speedsofter(s) on the field to redirect attention. I started the field with nsl speedsoft in mind, but it turns out in Switzerland the cqb scene is more dominant - but i would never exclude the players ;) Maybe something in the middle? In Southern California, speedsoft is the main form of airsoft, at least in the Los Angeles area. With fields like Project N1, Tac City, and Sc Village. Two of the fields being indoor arenas for the SpeedQB Championships. I prefer the speedsoft mindset over mil-sim, as to me it feels much sportier. How many people can I tag out before I get tagged. Focusing on running as fast as you can being as small of a target as possible is extremely fun, almost COD deathmatch like. Another great thing about it is that your not alone in "being a speedsofter" at these fields. I would often times say 70-90% of the players on any given day are "Speedsofters" so there isn't any stigma of "playing realistically' such as during mil-sim games. When everyone is running around trying to get the most tags, and everyone is playing with the same mindset, it is a much more enjoyable experience overall. I see how my playstyle could be annoying when others are trying to indulge in mil-sim like play style, but that just means more countries and regions need to have fields/days dedicated to both different styles. At Tac City every Tuesday is SpeedQB Night, offering tournament style matches as seen in the video. And at Project N1 they offer training courses (often weekly) on close quarter combat scenarios for mil-sim style playing (or even real steel scenarios). I believe if more fields and arenas would drop the stigma surrounded with "speedsoft" and dedicated certain days to the style, just like Tac City does, and Project N1 doing the opposite offering mil-sim style training, we would all be able to understand eachother better. I think theres a mutual distaste for both sides, and i wish that could be taken down. But in all honesty that is mostly up to field owners being more open to the style.

I dislike the nature of this discussion as a whole, but his video is great. Me being weird, I consider myself the closest to an inbetweener. I can go fast, but I like to play tactical. My kit is designed to be milsimy, but fast, and I will often be the guy full sprinting in outdoor fields if there is any kind of stalemate and I want to break it up. I find that a lot of the disdain comes from a bad bunch on both ends, and I think a lot of people involved in more milsim/skirmish style airsoft tend to be more childish than they realize. This is coming from a skirmish player. I find that people will flip flop on how they feel about me as a player depending on what I do, if I catch them out with a hard fast rush, they get annoyed because its "Not how its supposed to be played," I hide and let the game get boring, everyone complains about the match being a stalemate shoot-out for 30 minutes, but nobody is salty about me specifically. Realistically, I think the main problem, and them main sentiment I see, is most people who are doing skirmishes are not really athletic. They come to just relax and have some fun. They don't want to run around, be ultra competitive, or have people sprinting around trying their asses off. It makes sense. What I think gets missed in a lot of that sentiment is that just because it's not what the majority likes on a field, that doesn't mean the other playstyle doesn't have a place, and often those players you get annoyed at are the ones that breakup those otherwise boring games.

Now, I do say this like every community there’s always going to be that one person who tried to ruin everything and I think it’s fair to to say that just because of person who ruined and stained the negative within the community doesn’t define the community as a whole. Sure you can watch all the negative stuff about speedsoft on KZbin for hours but where’s the attention for more positive which I never understand. So my point it’s not 👍

As someone who has been playing airsoft for a decade, its not speedsoft itself thats the problem, its the fact that it overwhelmingly attracts the most awful and toxic people, if anyone has a problem or confrontation on the field EVERYONE looks at the speedsofter before information is revealed about the situation and 90% of the time it actually is the speedsofter. Used to play at a field called power ops and knew the owner Micah, one time he told me the majority (like 65-70%) of the people that got banned from his field were speedsofters

Being in austria, I only saw a few and they usually new to the hobby. Damn, I even outrun them with full gear. Have nothing against them, but I only have seen them hitting a wall against my squad.

If you think about it, speedsoft plays similarly to paintball. The game layout is very similar, you play in a small arena and duke it out close combat style most of the time.

sometimes i want my sunday skirmishers to be more aggressive coz im bored waiting ina bush for ten mins but i also dont like going to a CQB game and i end up against a team of dudes that the marshals dont seperate coz they are their friends and they all have bloody team names. hoodies and customised AAP 01 with m4 mags that cost a few grand and I " a fat power lifter" with my pulse rifle, my friend who can barely see and his mp5 i built for him, a giant of a man with a tiny hi cappa and three mags and his teenage son... yes I'm venting

Not a speedsofter at ALL but i feel bad for them at this point. Airsoft SHOULD be about inclusion. This is one of SO many videos within the last 2 years now targeting speedsoft when theres room for it. We need all the support and player base we can get to progress. *correction * i appreciate you giving credit at the end that its NOT ruining the community, thank you. What about speedsoft being an entry to paintballers who wanna cross over or do both? Doesnt airsoft still win in that case? Gotta stop hating. Again, I'll probably never play a game of speedsoft a day in my life but others should be able to enjoy and partake if thats what they like. Why not? Its not a threat to the rest of the community and it's pretty fun to watch

Where I live im one of the only soeedsofters in my entire city and typically I find that the milsim players are more likely to cheat because they are wearing so much protective gear that they can’t feel anything. I just wear a paintball jersey and I can feel a hit everytime so I almost never cheat

The age old hate between speedies and milsimer is something I absolutely hate. Yea maybe someone’s doesn’t feel a hit due to adrenaline but just as often someone doesn’t feel, or rather hear a hit on their plate carrier or backpack. Both sides have their ups and downs and downs and I’m sad that often there is an Argument on the field because some isn’t calling their hits or is mad that some guy ran past their spawn and got half the team out. It’s a game enjoy it and know the difference that indoor will always be filled with more BBs flying through the air. Ps: I wouldn’t call the speedsoft a playstile but would call it speedqb but that is just my take on it.
@uzzy13644 ай бұрын
Speedsoft is fine you just got to play different to counter it. Stay in open areas and keep your distance. In cqb go prone they’ll often times just run straight past without noticing u. I’m not saying point blank moscart them but u know it does cover a large area. Side note it is good for the industry overall as most players don’t upgrade rifs nearly to the level of speedsofters
@jasonlai9801423 ай бұрын
Speedsofters I encountered tend to not call hits and overshoot, the former becoz they rush with adrenaline boosted hence become less sensitive to pain, the later, well this is what they do. I do own and build replicas across platforms, mainly gbb and hpa, sometimes aeg, and I do have some HPAs that can spam like what they do in their Speedqb tournaments, yet most of the ppl in the so called "normal game" here don't play like this. We praise those who don't spam, don't pre-fire when peeking, and shoot only when they've confirmed hostile, this is to avoid friendly fire and overshooting your friends. In this conception of airsoft games, I do not think Speedsofters will be embraced by the majority, unless they restrict their fire-rate, ammo capacity, and most importantly call their hits.
@nixwrx4 ай бұрын
they also never call there hits, and when they feel like there a tad bit angry because you ACTUALLY got them, They’ll flip there gun to full auto and shoot you in the face / legs, I mean that sounds fun right!! For most first time players that would make them want to come back.
@simonstoffels18784 ай бұрын
I agree that there is enough room. The hyper fast movement of speedsoft only works on their standard field. I am a really fast player too in normal airsoft but i cant go faster because the layout the field just doesn't allow for it i would get shot instantly as the distances from cover to cover are much longer.

Can you make video explaining that airsoft is sport which is not supporting war, violence and killing people? (my mum thinks that it is does)
@fernandoferraz35274 ай бұрын
Only advantage speedsofters have over normal airsoft is crazy rof where you see an m4 with the rof of a minigun overshooting every corner and player, unlimited amo as u often seen speedsofters with smg or pistols with drum mag adaptations, and speed as by moving fastvits hhatder to hit them and for them to feel it making this a huge problem.

I played a lot of paintball in my 20s until I had two knee injuries. Can't do a lot of running because my knee can't handle all the pounding. I've been considering dipping my toe into the Airsoft waters. If speedsoft is the only option in available fields, I will stay as a spectator.

Speedsofters need to switch to paintball. i played airsoft before enlisting infantry in the United States Marine Corps. Speedsoft certainly would have ruined that experience

Shit man, Speed soft might save airsoft. Might bring in more mainstream appeal which would keep the airsoft economy booming, which lets everyone else benefit from everything. Win-win :D

SpeedSoft gives Airsoft the opportunity to reach a wider audience, provides more structure and the opportunity to become as popular as Paintball! It's essential for the growth of our hobby into a sport! After running over 50 matches I can say that Airsoft's biggest problem is internal integrity. Players not calling shots, players not walking all the way back to spawn etc! Speedsoft takes all of that out of the equation!
and also in the netherlands we see airsoft as a sport but this is mostly from speedsoft because the goverment find the guys in the woods playing skirms a bit crazy but they like speedsoft because of that sport type of game here in the netherlands if you want to play airsoft you have to be apart of the NABV But they also get a lot of hate because poeple say they have a monopoly here in the netherlands wich is true but it for the safefty of the sport and they get hate because poeple say they put speedsoft on top but this is just so we can still play the game/ sport we al like to play in the first place

Yes i belive is enough place for all but in my opinion as a airsoft player and speedsoft player an referee i belive it is a difference between them. Airsoft i more tactical more versatile and you use a more amount of energy and you got to ise your brain more. Speedsoft is more dynamic, high speed shooting and high speed tactics. Speedsoft in my opinion is a mix betwen paintball and airsoft in my opinion. So everybody can enjoy the both sports but you can choose what sport you can play. There both fun and very fairplay. Because fairplay is all about in both sports. Enjoy everybody!

I agree that speedsofters have a place in airsoft and that they are helping to legitimize the hobby in the eyes of the public. I myself enjoy that playstyle from time to time but I don't want it to become the only play style. I still enjoy the more "traditional" style of play where there is just as much focus on the realistic replicas and dress up aspects as there is on performance. I hope camouflage, large - asymmetric fields, and tacticool loadouts don't become confined to milsim type events (Not that those are bad either).

I play both airsoft and speedsoft. The only difference is that for airsoft I have milsim gear with helmet and for speedsoft I have sports gear and jersey. Speedosft won't destroy aitsoft, just more people will want to play. The paintball community will move to speedsoft.

Lots of controversial takes in the comment section. But only 10% of the people who "hate" on Speedsoft / Speedsofters, actually tried it. 9/10 ppl who try speedsoft, realize how fun / rewarding it is, and they keep coming back.

On regular Weekend skirms there is No Problem with them and people complaining how they ruin Airsoft by looking untactical and moving fast build for Speed is at least at milsims No Option. So Play milsims If u dont Like them and also i think speedsoft is a great place for invation as they Push their gear to the max all the time. I think there is enough room for both and If u dont wanna See them play milsims

You’re not going to play against Paintballers with sniper etc, you get alot of advantage. A normal airsofter is not allowed to use full auto CQB but these guys with their custom builds are shooting faster than regular rifs from airsofters. Just can’t be mixed in my opinion. Keep them apart
