Good video. I just bought a generator for our BC20x and am looking forward to learning more about this technology. Our biggest issue is that we live in Texas and 6-7 months of the year will probably require AC when we go out.
@SirCampalotOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
This set up would still work. I can run the AC all day long if I double the amount of solar panels. That will allow me to have 640W total. It would definitely be able to keep up with the AC especially in sunny Texas. One benefit of having portable panels is you can move it around and avoid shaded area for maximum charge input.

Thanks for the video it very helpful! You should get two more 200 w panel, this way you can have free AC all day, and enough battery for the night!

Yes, definitely more solar panels for sure! I will need it in the future if I do more boondocking in hot places!

We have an EcoFlow Delta Pro and use it simply as a boondocking battery as opposed to a solar generator. Also gives us peace of mind in case of an emergency at home.

There are Bluetooth upgrades for that AC system in the base camp that you can set the temperature and it will kick on and off to maintain the temp without running the fan non-stop. I would like to see that paired with the bluetti to see how much longer it will go.
@SirCampalotOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. I did not know that there is a Bluetooth unit. Do you have a link or name of the unit? After using the AC in the desert this summer, I gotta say that is is a power hog when it is over 100 degrees outside. It will last only an hour or so.

Awesome video! Where did you install the “outside” thermometer sensor in your Basecamp? I have been debating where to place it.

Still deciding whether lithium battery vs. this portablr battery. I know many prople have different opinion. What do you think based on your experience?
@SirCampalotOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
If you are considering Lithium battery then I would recommend that. It is more expensive ($4-5k for lithium compared to 1.8k for a battery pack). I would recommend you get more solar panels regardless. The default 180w solar panels on the AS Basecamp is just not enough if you plan on running the AC. I plan to eventually get Lithium but this battery pack is so versatile. I can take it with me without the Basecamp in case I want to do some car/tent camping.

Informative video. It looks like your power station doesn’t have any three prong grounded outlets but has a spacer for the ground prong. Are there any risks for appliances, AC or power station damage because of this?
@SirCampalotOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Most battery pack has a built in fault sensor. It will stop producing electrical current if it is o overloaded. I have overloaded my battery pack before and the fault prevention prevented from being damage. As for appliances, I have not had a problem with it. From hearing other people’s experience, the most that will happen is it might blow a fuse in the RV.

DId you have to install an Easy Start or something similar? GREAT video btw!
@SirCampalotOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have the soft start. The Bluetti is able to handle it. If you get the ecoflow delta power bank, you will need a soft start.

Great video man! I’ve been researching about these power stations and it seems like the Bluetti ones are the best; I’m planning on getting a Basecamp 20x next year, but I live in Florida, so I’m gonna need the AC when boondocking overnight; therefore, I was wondering if I can accomplish that with the Bluetti EP500. I can use it for power outages in my house as well. The Air Conditioner is 9,500 BTU. Do you think that will help me for at least 6 hours running the Air Conditioner overnight? Thanks man!
@SirCampalotOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't think the Bluetti EP500 can keep it running for over 6 hours at night. It can run 1.5-2 hours of AC (no solar panels) with 2000wh, the EP500 has 5000wh, so I would imagine it will only be able to run 4-5 hours worth of AC. However, you can always get an extra battery to link with the EP500, that will give you plenty of juice to run it the whole night. An important note is that the AC cycles between high and low consuming 1100Wh at high and 100Wh on low. So this might be able to get you to 6 hours depending on the environment.

Would the AC be able to run without having the solar panels connected?

Yes. It would only last about 1.5 hours without solar panels. I have tried it before.

@@SirCampalotOutdoors How many roof solar panels did you have when testing this? Thanks!
@SirCampalotOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@nbain12 I had two 90 watts solar panels on the roof. I got a chance to use this set up during the summer (since this video) when it was over 100 degrees in the desert and I will tell you that it won't last more than an hour. Unfortunately, the AC sucks up so much power to keep the trailer cool when it is so hot outside. You will need enough solar panels to produce over 1000 wh to keep up with the AC power hog.

Watts, watts, you're not using volts! I assume that 2000 in the model is for watts. My Runhood is a 1200 but the difference is I got 2 extra hot swappable batteries so I really have 2400 watt hours. I assume you plugged in the whole Basecamp and just not the AC but turned everything else. My AC is hardwired and can't be plugged in separately

I plugged in the whole BC. Everything else was turned off and only the AC was running. Thanks for watching!

Seems like the LCD display is hard to read and not bright enough when the sun is out. You had to stoop down and cover the display. They should improve this and make life easier for us.

Yes, exactly! It's one of the downside of this battery pack. Also, it is pretty heavy too... 60lbs compared to Ecoflow's 30lbs battery back.
