New subscriber here. Great video! So happy we found it. By chance, after watching your walk through, we found a 2017 FCRBT for sale. When we went to view it, we were totally familiar with it, thanks to your video! Long story short, we decided this was the size and floor plan for us, and purchased it. Pick it up next week.

Love the overview. One suggestion re: the kitchen sink round cutting board/cover. I had the same sink in my 23' and used a circular saw to cut the cutting board into one 1/3 piece and one 2/3 piece. I left the 1/3 piece over the sink which offered a decent cutting board for use or creating a bit more horizontal surface, and left a good-sized opening to run the water, rinse and/or wash things. I could simply slide the cover around to clean the sink or more easily remove it than if it were the entire round cover. I kept the other 2/3 piece tucked beneath one of the sofa cushions and put it on if I was cutting/prepping a lot of stuff.

I like the idea of keeping the other portion. Thanks for the idea John!

Also re: the kitchen sink, I bought a round, coated dish drainer for the sink at IKEA. I've seen similar products elsewhere online. It allowed me to wash dishes, utensils and leave them in the drainer to dry, minimized scratching of the sink well and actually was helpful for storing some kitchen items in it during transit.

I was also thinking about starting with a 19 scamp and upgrading into the same 25 airstream. I love your videos.. you 2 are so great. I have seen people put in a fill bed on the twin setup. This way you can have best of both worlds if needed. Currently its just my partner and myself but we look forward to adopting 2 kids.. It seems you guys like the upgrade bathroom and all the windows in the camper most from the scamp.

Thanks for watching! Yes, the light and space in the Airstream is certainly better. So is the shower. But unfortunately, that comes with a heftier price tag. Either way, both are great campers.

Great detailed walk-around. We have a 2018 25 RBT Flying Cloud. It is amazing how little has changed. We certainly love our Airstream as well. We don't have the extra awnings, however, we have a second AC. They 50 amp cord can be like wrestling a python. We do have the newer steps which seem to work fine. Not sure how they compare to the old steps.

Nice rig. What do you use for a towing vehicle? How does it do? MPG while towing? What is the weight of the trailer? Have you had any leaks? How well does the single air conditioning work? Love the awnings on the 3 sides. Sorry for all the questions.. 🥴 This model is on our short list for airstream. Great walk thru. 👌
@nickortego3 жыл бұрын
@@BillUtah Hi Bill, Thanks for the great questions. No leaks. It is covered when stored. The single air conditioner has been enough for us, and we live in the south. I tow with a 5.7 - 1794 Tundra. The Tundra gets the job done, but it's by no means best in class by towing. I've pulled through the Rocky Mountains and Appalachians, but my payload capacity is limited with the Tundra. I average just over 11 mpg when towing and I usually only travel at 60 mph most of the time.

Love your video, most informative. My comment is regarding smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector. Carbon monoxide is heavier than the air, so it accumulates from ground up, so must have monoxide detector near ground level too. Maybe I missed that?
@nickortego9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, there's a built-in carbon monoxide detector at the base of the kitchen cabinets.

Great review as my wife and I have been considering this exact model, was very excited to find your video on the very one. Appreciate the fact that you folks covered every cabinet and corner of the stream. Love the idea of picking up one, just not sure one is within our budget being that they are around 105K new. Did have two questions for you. Looks like the 25' has the option for two ac units. I see yours has the one and wondering if you haver ever felt that having only one was inadequate? Is your sky light in the kitchen where the second unit would have gone?
@nickortego3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, Thank you for watching! Yes, we only have one AC unit and we are located in the south. Even on the hottest of days I have found one unit to be adequate. However, adequate is not perfect. When it gets really hot outside, we put a pre-cut insulating foam in the skylights and fantastic fan locations. Finding a campground with trees also helps a lot. I don't believe you give up a skylight with a second AC, but I'm not certain. However, I think you do need 50 amps rather than 30 amps to run two units.
@mikegreene92153 жыл бұрын
@@nickortego You are correct, you would need 50a to do that. My preference would be for a single AC also. Thanks for the follow up.

How did u tap into the rear light to power the backup camera? And also can u show the location that you drilled into the rear awning to mount the camera? I like what you did and is considering the upgrade for my AS as well.
@nickortego3 жыл бұрын
Hi Laurence, I just popped off one of the lights and used “wiretap” connectors. My camera came with the connectors, but they can also be ordered on Amazon. I took some pics of where I screwed the camera in the awning, but I'm not sure I can post pics in KZbin comments. I'll try uploading the pics to Dropbox and posting a link under this.
@@nickortego isn’t the light housing a huge aluminum piece? Or did u had to drill a hole in the light housing to run the wires and also let the light screw back tightly.
@nickortego3 жыл бұрын
@@hotdogakamike no drilling. If I remember correctly. That top light popped out and I just ran the cable under the light housing. It’s not beautiful, but it’s worked. This does require that I drive with the lights on for the camera to be powered. There’s a pic of the light in that Dropbox link.

Thanks for the picture. That’s very clever. I also rather not drill into the body as well.

How are you plugged into your home. Do you have a. 30 amp Separate circuit. ? And a surge protection for your trailer ?
@nickortego3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I was just using a 120v to 30amp adapter. I also use Hughes Autoformer for surge protection. Wouldn't want to try and run the air off it or anything, but it works for lights and the fridge.
@DavidSmith37503 жыл бұрын
@@nickortego does it charge the batteries. Inverter while doing so ? Thankyou for answering me btw. I use hot spot do you have number for Hughes i would like to get the surge protection
@nickortego3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, When plugged into 120v it runs the converter, which means it’s also charging the battery. That can be a problem because it’s not a multistage converter. So, it can cause the batteries to boil over.

Hi Williams, I use a 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition. In my opinion, it's probably just enough truck. If you're considering a new truck you may want to look at the new Tundras? They are supposed to tow better.

Why did Airstream put the furnace vent behind the door, instead of somewhere that would be open. Putting it where the door would open, does not make sense.

Yeah, I don’t love that either. The only thing I can figure is that they don’t anticipate us needing to leave the door open when it’s cold enough to run the furnace.
