I'm binge watching y'all; what a LOT of fun I'm having! I love that you are not afraid to show what goes wrong and what all you're learning. I actually started by watching you bring baby Dash home and decided that I HAD to watch you learn how to live in an Airstream.

Great video! After towing our Airstream for 18 years and 78,000 + miles our tow day calculation is a practical science. We tow at 60 - 62 mph but our long term average for planning is 50 miles in an hour. Want to travel 200 miles? That's a 4 hour day. Want to drive 6 hours? That will get us 300 miles. Regardless, we love travel days! And even now, it's not always fun pulling into gas stations...
@Wanderlocal4 жыл бұрын
Oh, I am so going to be using this calculation. This is genius! Thanks for sharing. We're still in the stage where travel days are a little stressful, but we're getting there. This morning we had to get our Airstream ready to leave in the dark. I don't think we'll be doing that again soon. :D

I always wondered how many miles per day and what was your average speed was that's why you had no issues with those china boom tires .

Thank you all so much for documenting your beginning journey. I feel not a lot of people have the courage to show the mistakes and whatnot in the beginning but this is EXTREMELY helpful! 😁

Courtney, thank you for the kind words! We promised ourselves that when we started this journey we were going to share everything. The good, the bad, and the crazy! 🤪 Everyone learns from mistakes, and we're both far from perfect - just like everyone else. Once we got past the broken tail light, blown fuses, and awning mishap, things did start to get easier! 💪Thank you for following us along on this journey. We genuinely appreciate it! Lauren + Daniel

My work has taken me many places around the world but with my own nickel I prefer to support my country in my airstream and visit the people who are the back bone of this country.
@Wanderlocal4 жыл бұрын
David, very well said! We agree 100%. More people need to venture out and explore this beautiful country of ours, especially now. The small businesses and local communities need every nickel they can get. Unfortunately, many are hanging on by a thread. They need our help! Also, kudos to owning an Airstream. We LOVE ours!

@D. Bey, thank you! We cut the trailer out of our videos a while back because it seemed to cause drop off in viewership, but our passion for supporting local businesses hasn't changed one bit. Our favorite stories are when people tell us that watching our videos have made them more conscious consumers. ❤️

Hi, I am considering a 19ft Caravel. I am 68 years old and concerned whether I could handle all of the things that go into towing a travel trailer and also just traveling alone. I am enjoying your videos so much! You mentioned a coffee maker while you were at the coffee shop and I was wondering what you use. Thanks so much. Oh…..also I lived in St. Pete for almost 30 years then moved just north of Tampa, but I miss it.

That sandwich looks so delicious and I had NO idea you couldn't just go to a truck gas station. I didn't even know that was a thing?!?!

We had no idea either! And, we're now obsessed with Grass VBQ. That sandwich is so freaking good. Daniel talks about it at least once a week while I'm making dinner. HAHA.

You can fuel your diesel truck at a truck stop in the truck lanes. If you do not have a fuel discount card, go inside and pre-pay.
@Wanderlocal4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Dora & Ed! We'll have to give it a try on our next leg of the trip. The truck stop lanes certainly have the room, which makes for a more comfortable stop while refueling. Thanks for following our adventures!

@@Wanderlocal EFS is the diesel fuel discount card. My only suggestion when fueling in truck lanes is to fuel then move out of the way. Being respectful to the truckers schedules will get you much respect in return. Stop by our channel and take a look around!
@Wanderlocal4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's what we've read about since having this experience. We've found it pretty easy to just use the regular diesel pumps, so we haven't gotten a EFS card yet. But, got the chance to poke around your channel this morning and subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more. 😊

Rving is very similar to living and cruising on a boat. Docking a boat for newbies is the most anxiety filled operation and in fact people won’t leave their slips due to undocking and docking. My advice is to go to a a empty parking lot and practice, practice, practice. Enjoy the journey. I would also cut your intro down to :30 ....2:00 is to long. I understand there is a story there, but make a 5 minute video on who you are, etc
@Wanderlocal3 жыл бұрын
I can totally see that, on not leaving the slips! That would be heartbreaking though to miss the rest of the adventure. 😭 I (Lauren) would love for us to try living on a boat, but Daniel gets sea sick super easy. Also, we really appreciate the intro advice too! We learned this the hard way in our early videos like this one, when we had viewers drop off during the intro. We’ve changed it in our new videos, and I love the 30 second rule of thumb! Looking forward to following your adventures on Freedom. 😍

Take a look at a TSD fuel card from TSDLogitics. Lot of full time RVers use this, works at truck stops and saves you money.

No offense taken! We switched to plant-based a year ago because of some health concerns with Daniel.
