You are getting 94Mbps only because the wan port of the router you connected in bridge mode is 100Mbps only. You need gigabit wan Port router then bridge Connection will also give you same speed.

Alternatively you can connect it to lan port and turn off dhcp in tplink router and see if there is a speed difference.

Yes this is not bridge mode. Doing what the video shows will cause a "Double NAT" scenario causing higher latency and weird issues

This is Double NAT. **NOT** bridge mode. For bridge mode you need to change the airtel router to bridge mode and configure the other router to PPPoE mode and provide DSL username and password.

Thank you for your comment. At least, someone in the comments section understands what true bridge mode is. If someone wants to setup a second router (using Ethernet) to extend the Wi-Fi range, they should configure the second router in AP (Access Point) mode to prevent double NAT. Provide the AP mode router with the same SSID & password for a seamless switch, as per range. @thefellowbreather Were you able to get bridge mode activated from Airtel’s back-end team? In my case, they are clueless and always ask me to get static IP. I have no idea how to explain it to them. 😂 If only it were so easy to use your own Wi-Fi 6 capable router and not have to rely on Airtel and its half-wit representatives!!!! (Shouldn’t have to be so difficult to have a little control over your local network, right?)

@@sarthak_roy Haha, thanks for the appreciation! The Airtel backend team is as stupid as the size of their ego. I was able to configure a TP-Link WiFi 6 AX1500 as an AP. Use the following PPPoE credentials in the AP router: Username: Goto the airtel router settings and copy it. Password: Your account number in the bill/airtel app. You're welcome 😎

@@thefellowbreather broheim, I’ve been using the exact same router as an access point for the past 2 years. (Great minds think alike). It’s just that the Tether App doesn’t work outside of local network if the router is in AP mode. But, I have gotten used to it. Also, I tried the static IP, man, for my 2nd fiber connection. But that is a Nokia G2425G-a router provided by Airtel and I have to admit, it was the worst decision ever. Remote management just isn’t possible on that router. As far as my home connection is concerned, I am using the Archer AX10 in AP mode, connected via Ethernet to the main router (airtel zte). Both the devices are on different floors and the connection switches seamlessly, depending on the floor I am on. So, I’ve gotten used to it, since the Airtel thanks app works alright (although it has become useless for my new connection - doesn’t show the devices connected).

@@sarthak_roy In that case the DHCP is in the first(airtel) router. Sadly airtel(nokia) routers are notoriously bad with their network stack. It's better the other way round.

You haven't changed AirTel router to work in bridge mode. All you're doing in plugging in a cable to the router and extending it, leaving the double NAT in place. That's not how bridge mode works.

my airtel router is not supporting any changes - like if I change channel to 1 from 'auto', it just cuts off the net. Same with bridge mode.. if I change from 'route' to 'bridge', it's gone..can't use it! I think they have strictly not allowed us to make any changes to main router.

This should not be the case. As I am using tplink as bridge from past 2 years and the speed when it was wirelessly bridged was less. However when connected via wired I received full speed. Have you tried using inserting the cable in lan port instead of wan port and turning off DHCP in the router (basically turning off DHCP will mean it cannot assign IP’s on its own).

@@MrVijitatma reset your netgear router and connect it to your primary airtel router via lan cable, in your airtel connect it to lan port and on your netgear connect it to wan port. Once done, click on auto-setup on your netgear router, this should setup your netgear router as an extender. It worked for my asus router and have been using the same for past 6 months. I have further stopped ssid broadcast on my airtel router, just to avoid channel interference.
