My favorite element is headbanging. When you're on an Arrow, or Vekoma, and your head gets bashed in, it's just pure bliss and it makes negative g stalls feel like a cobra roll in comparison.

The last outerbanked airtime hill on wicked cyclone is absolutely lethal, but never sleep on the first airtime hill after the first turnaround. On rain rides, that hill gives me more air then any other hill I’ve been on. Rain rides on WiCy can seriously compete with SteVe.

My favourite element is one that's only found on Intimin 10 Loopers, but it's the quad roll. 4 heartline rolls back to back to back to back. It feels like you are in the element for a long time, which is elongated by the slow speed of the element (It's right at the end of the ride, and the 10 Loopers aren't the fastest). It's one of the reasons I love Colossus a lot

Gotta agree on the spinning drop being a great element. My favorite coaster of all time is Sierra Sidewinder at Knott's. If you're in the last car, when you hit that curve halfway down the hill that whips the train the opposite direction, it sends that last car flying into a tailspin. The best ride I've had was last month during Knott's Halloween Haunt. The lights are off and the cold air seems to really losen up the track and the spinners because they really seem to seriously haul ass. I'm an old guy too and can't handle some of the newer rides like Hangtime. It was just not enjoyable.

How to do the bad elements right: Laterals: Maybe just don’t sustain them for more than a few seconds Immelmanns: Intamin did it right on velocicoaster, having great whip and airtime on the exit. Fonix probably did it best, though. Positive G’s to hangtime to whip. Good variety of forces on those Immelmanns, as opposed to a dive coaster. LIM/LSM: They’re probably here to stay, so let’s hope the trains get lighter so that more of the force goes towards the acceleration, not the mass. Pretzel Loops: The most subjective one, I think you could go well with a standard loop (Starry Sky Ripper, Batwing) but the G’s kinda are unavoidable. Cobra Roll: There are a few good forceful ones (Hulk, Alpengeist) and you could still go the hangtime route, but it would probably be better to just put a banana roll or cutback as an alternative turnaround.

Totally agree with everything you said about your favorites! I've never experienced a hydraulic/air launch, but I have done LIMs/LSMs, and I love them. There are some weak ones (like Copperhead Strike or Cheetah Hunt) but the stronger ones (like Hagrid's or especially Rock 'n' Roller Coaster) are great. Imo cobra rolls are pretty eh, they're good on Boomerangs because they're so tight and quick and good on Hulk because it's Hulk but on other coasters they're not that good. Immelmanns are decent, not top tier, but they're not terrible. I really like the pretzel loops, but I'm young. Something that competes with (and maybe outdoes) the pretzel loop is that insane vertical loop on Nighthawk. Overall, I love most elements on coasters, and the ones I don't like aren't terrible, just okay. If an element hurts (like a corkscrew) it's because of the ride and not the element. But my favorite is any airtime hill: bunny, camelback, off-axis/twist-n-shout, drop, wave turn, vertical drop, double down, they're all great!

Unconventional favorite element of mine is the lift hill. I think for many people it's the scariest part of the ride, and for enthusiasts it's where you get most hyped up for the experience, not to mention the great views you get on some. Right down to a physics level it has to do with you building the potential the rest of the experience happens because of. They also have this magical effect where I suddenly think about my creative ideas, shower thoughts, etc. If I'm riding solo at least. Dishonorable mention: vertical lift hills, eurofighters being the most frequent offender. Even if you're healthy and physically fit to not be too uncomfortable you still deal with the sun directly in your eyes.

Can't believe the Norwegian loop didn't get mentioned! It's awesome, especially the one on Helix at Liseberg as it inverts twice compared to the one on Speedmonster at Tusenfryd. The bottom of the loop on Helix is the fastest part of the ride and it just compresses you with the strong G-forces. I guess the feeling of the element is kinda unknown, especially when most enthusiasts are American. Cause there's only 2 Norwegian loops in the world, and both are in Europe (Norway and Sweden) if not a new one has opened recently.

I love everything about Steel Vengeance, but 2 of my favorite coaster elements are the first drop of Millennium Force and the death spiral at the end of The Beast.

Completely agree about the cobra roll. Kumba is a very special ride to me, but if they replaced that cobra roll with a plain turn around, i wouldnt mind. Im really surprised by your take on the immelmann, though. I get really good floater from all the ones ive been on

Another thing: I love the Drachen Fire Loop on Steel Curtain. And just other dive loops in general. I am SO STOKED to experience the death roll on Iron Gwazi.

So funny that we generally vibe on most coaster elements cuz I'm ALL about airtime. I especially agree with you that Dive Loops are WAY better than Immelmans and have always thought this (why do so many coasters keep building Immelmans when Dive Loops are so much better?!). Cobra rolls tend to hurt, especially as we get older (I'm 40 now). But I still love Pretzel Loops on flying coasters, they make me feel like someone is tickling my stomach. I look forward to that element, but I'm also someone who thought I-305 was trying to kill me, so I'm not invincible! (Oh also love those 90-degree and beyond drops, as the drops are always my favorite part of a coaster! And the zero-G rolls!)

Agree on Maverik being the most forceful LSM launch, even more so than the second velocicoaster launch. Fun maverick fact, if the first train doesnt clear the block zone it should, the second train will stop dead right before the second launch on maverick. The launch will go 0-70mph or rolling -70 either way, its designed as such. So a dead stop launch (which isnt uncommon) is a great one - its also very intense. Also, pretzel loops have to be the most forceful element on any coaster. Those G's are just crushing, especially Manta coming right off the first drop.

I didn’t find the raven turn on X2 that bad. I enjoyed the whole thing. Then again, I was on an inside seat in the front row. I don’t know if being farther back changes this experience. Cobra rolls aren’t bad, but I agree they’re everywhere and not all that exciting. Batman’s corkscrews are epic.

With vertical drops, I'd include near vertical, you can't really tell the difference, and you can include Fury 325

My honorable mention for good is the OG, the vertical loop. They might be outdated, but I still love me a vertical loop.
