I just did the 2 month Sling deal to get the mini. I guess if it runs Android it has the Live Channels app. Wonder if you can integrate it into Sling like the original Air player.

No. It plugs into an HDMI port on your TV. For the record, though, it will work on a roku TV

subbed, good overview. Question: the one thing I want to know is if the default Google "Live Channels" app will work with sling/OTA channels. and can use that interface instead of using sling's app. Would you mind installing it and seeing if it recognizes the sling/airtv channels?

Shawn, that is a great question. In fact you took the thought right out of my head. I was on my way to a movie last night and that very same idea popped into my brain. I'm working on a story for the website at the moment but next I'm gonna boot up the mini and check it out here at the center of streaming.

I was just hoping you might respond to a special request :) My ultimate streaming box would be AndroidTV OS, with multiple "live channels" sources, ability to dvr (whether via cloud or HDD, depending on service or OTA) . I've given my parents a Channel Master Stream+, which is create but no network DVR, and netflix is blocked on that device for some reason. But my In-laws are talking about replacing Dishnetwork, and this might be a better option for them.

With the airtv tuner can I watch local channels on my iPad through sling?

Yes with the tuner you can. Just remember that is a separate item from the dongle. You can see it on the air TV website. But even without sling TV you can download what is called the air TV app and Link it to see your local channels anywhere.

Yup. It will work with Sling TV on any format that supports sling tv.

If I already have an over the air antenna can I get it to populate the slingtv channel guide using the slingtv app on a roku tv or apple tv or do I have to have AirTV mini to do that? I'm worried that the AirTV mini isn't powerful enough to get the transponders about 40 miles away from where I live which is why I have to use a more powerful OTA antenna currently. Just curious. Thanks in advance!

As long as you have the actual air tv adapter its up to the typical variables of your antenna. I have an outddor mounted one. But the dongle on its kwn is just an Android tv device.

You can't connect the streaming device without wifi. It does not do anything otherwise.

They are giving these away during BLACK FRIDAY 2020 PROMO with 1 month prepaid SLING TV.... not bad.... looks to be a clone of the TIVO STREAMER.

It actually came out before the 4k Stream. The OS is totally different. The 4k Stream is all about integration and cross platform aggregation for content discovery while working Sling TV into its program grid. While AirTV Mini is all about getting you into sling TV with Android TV backing it up. So while both support the same apps and have very similar form factors I would consider the 4k stream more like a cord cutting cable box, while AirTV Mini is like a Sling TV themed Android TV.
