With a trailer, there is another pressure switch senor on the trailer and another input is hooked to the gauge for this. The model of the gauge needs to be changed to account for the extra sensor. Then, the calibration procedure is the same as the tractor. You need to enter the EMPTY WEIGHTS and the HEAVY WEIGHST in two steps using the number from a truck stop scale.

Will this work if my truck does not have air dump? Also, does it matter what the tandem pin position is when calibrating the scale?

Its cheaper and faster to install with air bags. Without it, they have deflector sensor that can clamp / weld on the rigid axles. Yes, the tandem pin relocation will alter weight distribution and weight accuracy.

@@SNAcalgary Sorry, I should have explained better. We have a Freightliner with air bags but we don’t have the air dump feature so they always stay aired up. Does that make a difference? As for the trailer, I was asking whether pin location matters when calibrating empty/loaded weights. The video never mentions whether it matters.

Yes, a dump bag air switch would need to be added as its a required procedure to achieve accurate reading. Pin location matter on the trailer. The location of the axles modify weight distribution and scale reading..

I have spring suspension on my trailer,I do not want to weld the conversion device to my axles,.... do you have an air bag conversion for Spring suspension ? Because the air weight is really accurate the other not so much

You can use the epoxy kit with clamps to read the suspension flex.

The tractor can still have its scale to keep track of its weight. You can also have rigid axle, deflector sensors added to the trailer to read the weight of the whole rig.

The scale may be recalibrated every year for better accuracy. This is a manual 2 steps process as described in the video.

No, just once empty and once when loaded. Then you can repeat yearly for better accuracy.
