The 2021 opening was a bit different due to Covid. It would normally be a stadium show, and was planned to be right up to a couple of months before the date. They had to pivot, and change their plans to produce the show as you just watched it. There's a 'making of' the 2021 show on the LoL channel. That's worth a watch too. The 2019 show open is pretty impressive, and is likely to be more like this year's show. That's one's in a stadium in Paris - it's the one that they mentioned briefly in Bridging the Rift.

I did send her both specifically to prep her for 2024 being live (and because of the Fortiche connection). Understandably, she connected more with 2021 since she hasn't really done any kind of dive into broader lore of League, and decided to only post the reaction to that one. But I did the best I could to prep her for the 2nd, including trying to address the good points you made above. I think she's going to do great with the 2024 OC.

To set expectations this was out of the ordinary for worlds because of covid, usually it's a live performance instead of pre recorded.

The PVRIS song you heard was the World's song for that year, it has a nice video you could watch. The next year was Lil Nas X(Star Walkin') 2022 and he performed at that year's show. Most shows are more like the Superbowl halftime in that they occur at a stadium in front of the audience. I liked last year's show quite a bit. They usually play in large arenas, when the World's Championship is in the US, they've played at the Staples Center in LA but they have also played events at NFL stadiums as well. This could be some nice bonus content for you to react to while we wait for Arcane Season 2. There is a World's song with a video every year. This year's song is by the new Linkin Park.

Fun fact: They actually wanted to build live arcane themed set where the singers would perform live infront of the audience, but then covid striked and they had to improvise. They still did an amazing job, but this remains the only worlds ceremony that was not performed live with audience.

I'm so hyped to watch the worlds open this year, I'm purposefully not looking at who is performing so the live songs can surprise me! 😂 i love what they did for this one!❤ The live action Zaun set was actually real and could be visited by fans for a few weeks, tho covid restrictions made the event much smaller

Worlds opening ceremonies are a lot different to this one since they are usually played live at a stadium unlike this one due to COVID. Also the main focus of these openings are about eSports than arcane(2021 just so happens to be arcane release date so they did a arcane themed one) but there are many cinematic that contribute to the rabbit hole of league lore that are worth checking out

Riot is also starting a live action studio and I'm definitely excited to see what they can do when they really go all in on it. I'm sure we can expect to see a lot more insane set designs like this from them in the future. 😃

@@artxroyalty Yeah, apparently they are working on both a live action TV show AND a movie. 😱 Christian will still be running the animation side and then Brian Wright will be running the live action. I'm all for more content from Riot, they've definitely proven themselves with Arcane. If they can keep up the same high level of storytelling, characters, visuals, music, etc. then I'm down for whatever format they choose to use whether it's animation, live action, or muppets... I don't care! 😁

Mind you this was before anyone had seen the show. So its less of a tease for S2 than a teaser for S1. It was perfectly cadered to the audience of players and stoked exitement but also continued the misdirections from the trailers.

You could watch the League of Legends and Kegends of Runterra cinematics like "The Call", "Warriors", "Awaken" and "Still here" until season 2 of Arcane drops.

I haven't touched League since the last time I played it with my ex who got me to play it on rainy days when we dated a few years before Arcane even was announced. I have had zero investment into the IP since then, right up until Arcane came into our lives. I still haven't touched the game since, and yet am enamored when these worlds events come simply from the sheer production value. I do work in animation so anything where there is some new animated medium to see adds to the value, but I can still imagine being outside of that and have a good time with this stuff.

I was able to find the 2019 opening and OMG...I loved how the artist were performing with the characters as holograms on the stage. Insane budget and very entertaining! Everything I've been learning surrounding worlds/League just gets better and better!

I got the Blu-Rays purely since I wanted to have a physical copy. Assuming it's the same 3 hours of bonus material (very likely), it is: - Bridging the Rift - A "Making Mel" mini-doc on the character and design (~20 mins) - Scene breakdowns with Fortiche artists for "Happy Progress Day!" (E4), "When Those Walls Come Tumbling Down" (E6), the "Ekko vs. Jinx" scene (E7) and "The Monster You Created" (E9), about 20 mins each.

Unfortunately here in Germany they delayed the delivery of the Blu-ray-set from 24th of October to 12th of December. Hence just after season 2 aired. I got an email from the distributor where they stated that the production of the discs, especially the 4K ones, were not sufficient yet and have to increase the production. I assume they underestimated the big demand heavily. And decided to prioritize the delivery in the US and GB instead.

Trying to get people to watch Arcane is weirdly like trying to feed your pet their medication "EAT THE PILL! THIS IS GOOD FOR YOU!". I get deflections left and right based on things like: - "I dont watch anime" which then proceeding to explain the difference between anime and western animation just digs yourself a bigger hole. - feigning interest and you know damn well they wont watch it but will do a rerun binge of Lost within a week, and you could even say one of the better writers of Lost is literally one of the core writers for Arcane. - the "its based on a videogame?/ league of legends?!" question is very valid and it's hard to navigate around the fact that it's actually good. The few I have managed to break in came back to me to say it's the best show on Netflix, and the best animated series they have ever seen. I have had people live at my house for a few days as a visit, I put Arcane on and they pay about 12% attention and mostly just look at memes on their phone. The pain is so damn real to see disinterest. They are definitely the weird ones. I promise our obsession is totally healthy... totally sane... What really sucks is with S2 coming, a friend asked if I wanted to do a watch party for it, but the concept that a bunch of people might not take it as seriously as I do means that I'm going to be trying to watch something I care about while people are talking and joking around, looking at their phone through half of it, and generally spoiling the experience. So I've decided I'm doing a first pass on my own, then rewatching with people. I never knew what reactions channels where until Arcane. I wish I did my own, cuz you folks would have fed on my episode 3 tears like we all have on every possible reaction channel we could find.

The Opening Ceremony for 2024 also just came out today, so if you're looking for some more hype before S2, I'd recommend checking it out at the very least. 😄

@@artxroyalty There isn't much Arcane this year, for sure. Riot does incredibly well with music and live performances, so while unrelated to Arcane, the story-telling through the music videos (and just the overall quality of the music), I think, is worth checking out, whether or not you decide to make reaction videos for it. And like Arcane, the music from Riot doesn't need an attachment to League to enjoy. Any of the stories/lore from League's Universe may end up in future TV series done by Riot, similar to Arcane covering some of the lore from Piltover/Zaun, and all full of incredible writing and storytelling. I think for oc 2024, it'd just be some fun hype. I didn't even watch Worlds, but it made me want to lol. And it only shows the quality Riot puts into their performances, on screen and off. Love your vibes, and I appreciate the response ✌😄

This year's opening ceremony shouldn't be so heavily focused on arcane. A lot of people didn't like it as "worlds" is meant to focus on the proplayers. The esports lead said focusing so heavily on arcane was a misstep and they would not repeat it going forward. I didn't mind personally but I can understand why so many people were upset, pros included.

Arcane stuff aside Worlds 2021 was kinda dead. We were going through the pandemic and there was no crowd attendance. There is usually thousands of people watching live and i wish we could hear the crowd roar for the Arcane content

I saw the trailer on KZbin before the show dropped, and the visuals got me interested, but I was also pretty skeptical. It was John Campea's RAVE review (he said it was the best animated series he'd ever seen) that convinced me to give it a shot. I don't always agree with him, but he's not exactly given to hyperbole. Once I saw Episode 3, I understood.
