Meanwhile Assam is around 40% muslim. This law is just meant for public amusement because nowadays in india success of a cm or pm is a function of his/her hatred of muslims. Beef is cheaper than mutton that's why it is financially more feasible for personal and commercial use and banning it would have the worst impact on people's lives especially muslims. "Religion is a colosseum to divert people from real issues", this quote fits well on such people. If they are really sincere in their protection for cows, consider decreasing prices for other non veg foods, beef consumption would automatically go down but we all know what their actual purpose is.

Both beef & pork should be banned in entire India. Article 48 aims to protect cattle, especially cows, from being slaughtered for agriculture and animal husbandry. DPSP is effectively functioning but we need more development too. Imagine if MNCs find place in Assam, lakhs of youths can get benefitted. So politicians should never fight among themselves instead focus on development like employment, health & welfare, also protecting & enforcing DPSP. Yes, pig is also an innocent species like cow. In my personal opinion both beef, cow & UN red listed cattle & species should be protected and preserved.
