I owned this exact model in the past and it's name on the box was Aiwa X-D1000 system. It contained 10 pieces: 6 separates, 2 main speakers and 2 satellites and all tho math does not add up 10x10=100 it was named 1000 - the great late 80's and early 90's Hi Fi stereos. Edit: Looking at your video I see this is actually my unit, just recognized scratch on the turntable cover :)

@@augustinekh6650 in all honesty? It is not as great as it looks. I get that it has it's appealing design but sound is lacking - well probably great for this type of stack. I prefer large floor standing speakers like Tannoy's 615 with a proper big amp, nice CD player and a turntable. Tuner and deck not needed. I must admit it was not easy to let it go. If we had a designated room for this kind of stuff I would have kept it. Children change your priorities though.

Why did these units sound so much better then modern units? They made the music come to life - modern units make music dull for some reason. This system was perfect.

My guess would be cost cutting, Everything in hifi terms were better built, better sounding, and really nice to look at... I'd scrap the stock speakers of this unit and grace it with a pair of B&W or Tannoy, speakers of that calibre will bring out the best in this machine

@@Deeky76 Mission 770's or some Wharfedale Linton's would also be a nice replacement... linton's would sound nice but probably couldn't take the power You are right about the cost cutting... On most consumer electronics now everything is built to a price, so lots of cheap plastic and cheap foam wadding in the speakers. Circuit boards are cheap three year burnouts with no options for callibration or replacement. But mainly its the speakers... you need dense cabinets and only audiophiles will want to pay for that quality now

Guys if you share a video of vintage systems remember to identify the output power for the system, the amp and the speakers, i bought one online just 2 months ago, and when it arrived, i found it having speaker's max power of 60w woofer, and the amp was giving 60w each channel, is good for home use but not for the purpose i bought it for, i needed atleast 100w or 120w hi fi system.
