I really don’t understand this thinking. The commanders literally aren’t paying anyone. We have the most money available because we don’t have a player of that caliber. The eagles are paying hurts, aj brown, Devonta smith. The commanders only big deal is Payne and that’s still nothing compared to all other teams. You HAVE to pay these guys. It’s a reason we haven’t made the playoffs in years. Not enough talent is on this roster man

Ya'll pretend like Luke McCaffrey's not even on the team. He's extremely underrated. Crowder has shown he can fill in just fine, too. Zaccheus isn't bad, either. Dyami can at least be a decoy. Paying a WR top dollar from another franchise ON TOP OF trading for him is a one way ticket to cap hell in the future. I don't even like signing him in free agency unless Jayden is held back by WR play and even then - it's better to just draft somebody. Signing Aiyuk robs all three of our starting receivers of a future, there is no room for him. Trying to replace the face of the franchise with a transplant is bad math - he only runs a 4.5 anyways. What happens when other contracts come up? I don't value Aiyuk over them, he benefits from Shanahan's system beyond almost anyone. It's short sighted to pretend there is any urgency whatsoever in WAS, there is none, we are not contenders. Put that money towards an OL signing in the future, let our receivers develop and build chemistry with Jayden... AP said "Build through the draft, supplement through free agency". Trading for Aiyuk is the opposite of supplementation, it's supplanting our guys with a dude who can't even run faster than them. Literally ALL of our main receivers I listed run a 4.4 40. We have at least 6 WR's who run a 4.4 40. Aiyuk is overrated. Aiyuk only works because of Shanahan's system getting him wide open and a great OL, which we do not have. Aiyuk is just pushing to play in WAS with JD5, that's all this is. I see that as an on and off the field distraction, they can hang out in the offseason. Being friends with Dotson and Dyami didn't help Howell whatsoever. Aiyuk is a literal step backwards with a mediocre OL, every step advantage matters. When Mclaurin and McCaffrey show out then people won't even want him next year and see this as a bullet dodged, and if a bunch of people still do by then - there's an out without trading for no reason. But I still prefer building through the draft, personally. Might not even need a WR next season, Dotson still has upside, too. It's better to allow our receivers an actual chance to break out. TLDR Aiyuk can kick rocks this year, better luck next season.
