Why BYU? Because the kid’s dad immigrated from the Congo and his mom from Jamaica. They know what is valuable in life. And they know most US universities will not bring that value.

Torres you can best believe that NIL played a major part in getting the #1 player in the country. The higher rated you are in high school the more money you ask for due to NIL

I think with someone like AJ, the money is not really that big of a deal because he has already made a ton of money through his current endorsements and it is going to multiply several times over as soon as he enters the NBA. When you already have as much money as he does and you know that all the other offers had to be competitive and very similar, it comes down to other defining factors which were clearly in BYU's favor.

He went to BYU because of all the former NBA staffers Kevin Young brought with him from the NBA. Booker and KD told him to trust KevinYoung. 2 NBA stars that Kevin coached last year. His NBA ties have helped him a lot. It was not all about the money. It was how he would be helped to get to the next level.
