There is a Somali fable that goes as follows: Once upon a time, a young boy was guiding his blind father. After walking for some time, they rested under a large tree with ample shade. While sitting there, the boy said to his father, ‘Father, wait here for me; I will return shortly.’ The father then asked, ‘Is this the same tree I think it is?’ The boy replied, ‘Yes, father!’ The father sighed and said, ‘Go ahead, but you won’t come back. When I was your age, I left my blind father under this very tree. I told him, “Wait here for me, I’ll return,” but I never came back. He passed away under this tree.’ Moral of the story: If you abandon your parents, your children will abandon you in the same way you neglected your family. Specifically those of you who live in the WEST!!
