I had tears as I reheard this talk. It even made me make peace with some anger I had within me towards a person.

Love you Ajahn Brahm, your talks are always full of love and compassion, the two main things Lord Buddha taught.

This video should have 1 billion views. I have literally never once in my life thought about treating myself the same way I treat someone else when I screw up...it has done so much psychological damage....wow.

Thank you so much for your talks. I think, because of your talks and your sparkling personality, you open the doors of buddhism to many laypeople in the West. And that is so good for inner peace and eventually world peace. Saahdu, saahdu, SAAHDU :-D

My dad liked to criticize others. It was a high for him. As a young girl I wanted to change his heart. I would say no that's not fair people are good can't you see? He would turn his criticism on me a little girl and that damaged me. He loved his critical attitude but I don't think he loved himself.

I also had a critical mother and her comments also affected my sense of efficacy. Now I have to practice self compassion in order to live and feel better.

Thank you for this talk with a lot of deep and wise words! I learned a lot from it and can use many metaphors and mental pictures in my personal practice! I also wanted to feedback that i was very irritated when Ajahn made a rape-joke (the man getting sentenced for lying in court about "raping" a waitress) I wonder if that can be adressed and reflected again? I know of a person, who survived rape and for whom hearing this "joke" was actually very painful and left a very bitter taste. It is in one way "good" to see also that spiritual teachers are still human and navigate in the society structures and reproduce patterns, like we all do. I write this with love and compassion for Ajahn Brahm but also for me. Therefore I want to clarify that this is not a joke but hurtful for me. Let's try deal with sexual violence and sexism also in spiritual/buddhist contexts. Thank you!

Yes.I quite agree and hold the same ideas. Practice Gautama Buddhism (not yanas, vadas, ....) and drop the word Concentration. One does not concentrate in meditation, but focus, relax and watch the stillness.

I can study Buddhism or practice Buddhism. Ajahn Brahm practices Buddhism in the local language, instead of teaching and studying. Better to practice than study.

Be kind to those who are unkind to you
@6c1217 жыл бұрын
Also be kind to yourself and assertive! Kindness can also mean by not being a passive 'enabler' of other person's inappropriate behavior and sometimes it means creating distance between that person and yourself. Ways of kindness and love are strange sometimes, but it is not kindness to ignore your own freedom in service of another person's ego. Blessings to all
