They say that death is just birth in reverse. At birth, the soul shrinks and loses it's memories while at death, the soul expands, born to the spirit world and all the memories come back... When we are born, we cry and the world celebrates, when we die the world cries and we celebrate. It's the ultimate bizarre paradox.

This is one of my favorite videos that you've made. It helped me because I'm old and the body isn't working so well at times. Thus seeing this video made me think about the body as a thing that must age and fall apart. I'm in the falling apart phase. It needs to be accepted. Thanks for this one and all that you do.

I'm actually more afraid of eternal rebirth and dying rather than death...and losing my memories and identity every time and having to learn eternal lessons/karma. Even if reincarnation is the soul's choice, is it something we really have to escape/finish? With my horrific birth/past lives, I only hope that death can balance out the effects...

Death = transitional evolutionary upgrade. The in and out flow of the breath is also the Rhythm of Life. The Rhythm of Life is a movement and a rest. The Optimum (Heaven), is always found somewhere between the extremes of too much and too little (hell). Pleasantness is the Rose found at the Heart of the Optimum.

I had never heard of this monk…thank you for the introduction. I too love how Buddhism and Taoism flip things on their head. It is a truism that “you can’t have one without the other” and this applies to EVERY-“THING”. 🪷👍

This reminded me of Nisargadatta's comment "I do not look at death as a calamity, and I do not rejoice at the birth of a child. The child is out for trouble while the dead is out of it."

One of the most meaningful videos you have done Jason. It is so true how much we suffer when one loses a loved one or thinks about death. Both are understandable in terms of causing suffering but it's the identification to our human nature which causes Us to collectively become attached to Our lives. Once we can realize our true nature it takes away the anxiety and pressure of holding on to our lives. Shanti! Shanti! Shanti! thank you! Jason.

I welcome death every night I go to sleep, never to wake up alive. Then when I do, I walk through the cemetery across the road wishing all residents to rise and shine! Neither happened, yet. As for any rebirth, that is out of influence, as is death for that. Not for the lack of trying.

According to the highest wisdom (IMO) of Advaita Vedanta non duality this world is a play and we're here to deal with our karma. In Hinduism this world is known as karma bhumi, the world of karma. The only reason we have been reborn is because we still have karma to work out. In a way we are all prisoners here. We need to equalize our karma and will keep getting reborn until we do. Then we can go back to where we came from and belong. We can merge with "God". And it really is better to be dead than alive (but in most cases suicide is verboten!!!!!!!!) quote from Ramana Maharshi " it is a custom amongst a certain section of people in Malabar, India to weep when a child is born in the house and celebrate a death with pomp. Really one should lament having left one’s real state, and taken birth again in this world, and not celebrate it as a festive occasion.”

Thank you very much for showing the wisdom of this enlightened monk. I don't know Buddhism from Thailand, I've never been there. I haven't heard of him before and he's such a gem of wisdom 😊💎 I have to buy this book! It's exactly like this: when you are born, from that moment you start dying. You can accept it or fight inevitable. The acceptance gives you a sense of relief. If you understand and accept this, you will not go into the unknown. Knowing this you know the beginning and end of the journey. Death, as hard as it may be for us to understand, is part of life. Without her this cycle would make no sense.

I think one of the many underlying messages of this quote is about attachment. Time and time again out mini enlightenments are about our everyday attachments. We are so seduced by them they are invisible to us. Suddenly when we dare to look through the other end of the lens we see the purity of what is.
