Wow, everyone should follow the example of the Dutch FA. According to wiki... "The KNVB subsequently rescinded the red card, and Ajax banned Wesley van W from all of their home matches for life.[4] He was also sentenced to six months in prison, with two months suspended. He would also have to undergo treatment for an alcohol problem and report to police during all AZ, Ajax and Dutch national team matches for the following two years.[5] The KNVB ordered the match replayed in its entirety behind closed doors. On 19 January 2012, the match was replayed with Alvarado in goal. AZ beat Ajax 3-2 to progress through the quarter final.[6]" It's a pity the keeper didn't get a good clean kick at him and take out the fucking delinquent's teeth...
@DjThymen10 жыл бұрын
It wasn't entirely behind closed doors, only kids could go the game.
@NunzioFunaki10 жыл бұрын
Totally disagree with the first one. The goalie should´ve been banned for kicking him while he´s laying on the ground (red card was absolutely right by the way - no opinion for the ref) and Alkmaar shoud´ve been punished for just leaving the pitch. The only person who is allowed to stop a match is the ref and not the coach. That this guy Wesley is banned for life is completely right. He deserved nothing better.
@mandatory05510 жыл бұрын
NunzioFunaki Had it been a pitch invasion, and the goalie cleaned up the guy without any other provocation, then the red card is justified. But it wasn't just a pitch invasion, he assaulted the keeper, who reacted pretty normally to that situation, and I would have a similar reaction. This act of assault transcends the current game of football occurring, and the ref was stupid to issue a red card without actually seeing what occurred. This put the current game in jeopardy and the coach was probably right to stop the game, as the reaction from the Dutch FA affirms.

There is a difference between defense and retaliation. I honestly feel in this case, the goal keeper was attacked and defended himself against an aggressor he reasonably could think was not done attacking him. I mean, even on the ground the aggressor kept throwing kicks at him. The goal keeper's kicks were literally aimed at the aggressor's legs. All of his use of force were directed at the imminent threat as a means to stop that threat. At no point did he retaliate or was his reaction disproportional to the threat, it fact, he was very restrained. Self-defense is not warrant for a red card.

Yes, it's dishonourable to keep beating on someone when they are defeated - whether they are on the floor OR still standing! I think your English is quite good. But you're basically saying that just a kick against anything is against the rules. I know that's not what you mean. But still. Still think the red card was unnecessary and that card did take it's toll for both Ajax and the ref his reputation.

It's hard to discern not knowing Dutch and all, but the keeper was attacked from behind by a fan and in return kicked him a couple times (a bit harder than he needed to, I'll say) and the ref red carded someone ELSE? or did he card the keeper? And the coach took all his players and left the game afterwards? Dutchmen are crazy.

The ref probably didn’t want to send Esteban off but the rules stated that he had too so I don’t get why he gets so much hate

What happened to the Az team? Were they suspended or fined for leaving the match?

That ref should be out of a job. Good on the manager to get his team out of there, because if THAT is a red then forget the game

jaa ik was daarbij. Niet dat Verbeek geen punt heeft maar ik vind het wel een lul dat hij de wedstrijd voor iedereen in het stadion verneukt door weg te gaan. Tot zover mijn leuke avondje ajax

Good decision making of the referee. Kicking when someone is on the ground isn’t self defense anymore. It’s the same energy as the fan rushing to kick the goalkeeper. Self defense was done first. Attacking after which means red card.

I'm confused as to why you keep referring to the law. Nobody is claiming the keeper should have been arrested, just that he was right to have been sent off by the referee.

Dunno what rules you have, but tell me where in the rulebook it says that ref can overlook that kind of incident. Instead, ref has to "enforce Laws of the Game". Of course he has "the final call", but no red card here would have been a major mistake in the eyes of the referee observers. As you can see from the replay, the goalie kicks the guy _twice_ when he is already on the ground. That's violent conduct to any referee, no matter what anyone thinks. No red card would have been a mistake here.

Referee better play for Ajax instead of referring

The same thing happened Fenerbahce-Trabzonspor. And Turkish Football Federation and Minister of Justice found Fenerbahce unfair for beating Trabzonspor fans. 200 people came ro the field, but Bright Osayl Samuelbecame guilty when he beat them all. It’s an unfair league

If you repeatedly kick someone, it is voilent conduct, whether they are a streaker or attacker. You cannot tell me the keeper is acting in self defence, he needs to be dragged away from the man even after the stewards are on to him! He has clearly (& understandably) lost his head. If two players from the same team have a fight, they are both sent off, not the one that throws the first punch.

Despite the fact that this dude is fully ready to go into Esteban this GK should never kick him let alone twice deserved red card

Die rode kaart voor die doorgesnovven esteban was volkomen terecht.. De knvb had AZ hier uit de beker moeten gooien voor het opzettelijk laten staken van deze wedstrijd..

Maintain the order? The rules aside, that's not maintaining order. He just walks to a player who just got attacked and showed him a red card. If you want to maintain order, the ref could have walked to the keeper and first asked how he was doing, and explaining why he needed to give him a card.

The situation is that an ajax "supporter" attacks the goalkeeper of AZ. The referee gives the red card to the goalkeeper which is according to the rules. In following of that the coach of AZ decides to send his players inside and to stop the match.Totally chaos at all.
@dbernauer12 жыл бұрын
he's not clueless. He is there to follow the rules as they are written on the day of the match. As unfair as it may sound, the keeper attacked the 'fan' AFTER he was already on the ground. This is considered an assault per the fifa rules. Therefor the keeper was shown a red card. End of story. Would you or I have done the same thing as the keeper? perhaps so but the referee handled according to the rules.

Ajacied in hart en nieren maar Oh oh wat heb ik genoten van Esteban deze dag!
@dvillar0812 жыл бұрын
Sure defend yourself, but if you go as far as to repeatedly 'assault' the fans then you can see where the ref had to give the red card. (I use the word 'assault' lightly, I could not think of a better word to describe the keepers actions)
@おお-v6c6 жыл бұрын
this is not football. referee's judgement was correct, but coach's instruction was also correct.
