Gary. The family member who is selling the home want either $6,000,000 pesos or an equivalent of $354,000 USD. Those are his words and he is a Mexican citizen. Let me enlighten you Gary. If you were purchasing a home here in Mexico being sold in US dollars, you could wire funds directly from your account in the US in dollars. If the home was being sold in pesos, you would have to exchange your US dollars for pesos and you would be charged a bank percentage to do so. So as an Ex Pat, it is in your best interest to buy a home dollar to dollar versus dollar to peso as you would incur an extra charge in the exchange. I continue to be astonished on some people who post on KZbin. We have been here for around 3 years. We know people who have been here for decades. Never once has anyone mentioned cartel threatening homeowners on the Lake Chapala area. We feel much safer here than in the United States. Perhaps I am incorrect. Perhaps hoards of Ex Pats are being threatened daily behind the scenes and nobody is talking about it.
