My impression was that the best rendering of Ajitha Hare Jaya is the one by Kalamandalam Hyder Ali. I am proved wrong by Pathiyoor. I believe the feel is more felt in the rendering of the former while the emotional appeal is more enchanting in Pathiyoor's voice and rendering. Both of them raised this padam to two different equally admirable heights. Two great artists🙏🙏

It is a long padam. I will try to translate the first part. Ajitha hare! Jaya Madhava! Vishno! Ajamukhadevanatha May the indomitable Hari(another name of Vishnu), Vishnu, the one who is worshipped by the likes of Brahma, win. It could also be praise to the indomitable one as u/missionsamurai said. I don't have any deep knowledge about this. (Ajamukha is Prajapathi Daksha. Ajamukhadeva- worshipped by Ajamukha. I don't know if it is a reference to Shiva. If anyone knows, please correct me) Vijaya sarathe! Sadhu dvijanonnu parayunnu Charioteer of Arjuna(Vijaya), as this humble/poor brahmin was saying/May this humble brahmin speak, Sujana samgamametam sukrutha nivaha sulabhamathanu niyatham Though the companionship of good people is great blessing, it is surely rare Paladinamaayi njanum balabhadraanuja ! "Ajitha Hare" is good to listen whatever way it is sung / presented. However, having listened/heard original old school of kadhakali, especially "Ajitha Hare" these way of rendering this "Padam" by singers of current time really cause concern. It sounds more like a a cinematic song without having the real "bhavam /sense" of kuchela vruththam.. Giving unwanted "tempo / throw" and adding "gamakam" makes it fit for a new Kuchelan - came all the way down riding his motor Bike, mostly had refreshments on the way - juice /tea/ or Horlicks - and then make his old classmate understand he still loves him someway. If one could listen "Ajitha-hare" by Thiroor Nambeesan aashan, U.k Kurup, Rajenddran Aashan etc of the old school - certainly can make out the difference and have the real feel of original Kuchela meeting Lord Krishna.

See i have heard many vocalist rendering it...so i strongly object it with your comments...1. Have you seen it being performed by gopi ashan as krishna and margi vijayakumar as kuchelan with rendering by pathiyoor it gives a heavenly feeling. 2. See a bhramin at that time has no issue with food for himself, poverty was at his home. People used to feed bhramins during that time. So potraying kuchelan as weak is not justifiable. 3. In kuchelavritham krishna says to rukmini kuchelan is same age as his but his situation make him old looking..thats because he is worried about his family .
