@@SuperWildsnorlax ajpw was easily the premier Japanese promotion of the 80’s and for most of the 90’s and now they’re barely relevant. They were more like the WWF/WCW of the late 90’s But their run spanned two decades as opposed to 5/6 years.
@BigmanDogs3 жыл бұрын
@@SuperWildsnorlax its kinda hard to draw analogies between japanese and american wrestling. Japan doesnt have a "WWE". Different promotions dominated during different times. AJPW dominated the 90s, Noah dominated the 00s, NJPW dominated the 10s. It would actually go against history if New Japan stays successful and doesn't get overtaken by some other japanese promotion.

Sometimes finishers are too visually elaborate so I really like how simple most of these are. Good video 👍
@metatrontumultum18603 жыл бұрын
For those who'd might say these are too simple, that is entirely based on how the in ring product is presented. As the in ring work is all strong style and more "realistically grounded" the simplicity adds to the viciousness and grit. What I would critique personally is too many wrestlers using the same finisher. It makes for redundant finishes and in turn less exciting cards. It also lessen the individuality of the wrestlers, which makes it harder to stand out/get over. Still, alot of these are pretty interesting in my opinion.
@skald21543 жыл бұрын
1 - a lot of the wrestlers in this video are either freelancers or from other promotions, they come & go, 2 - Many "finishers", like Boston crab multiple times, are used only on young boys, 3 - AJPW is definitely not a "strong style", beside shoot guys, like Sato or Hijikata.

There has to something said for the use of a simple but effective "Old School" finisher. A Lariet, a big ass German suplex or even just a Piledriver does the job. I like that about AJPW, still maintaining that classic presentation.

It has more to do with the fact that AJPW follows the kings road idea of wrestlers not just having 1 finisher per say. Most have several unique moves that can end a match with varying frequency. And on top of that there are I suppose "universal" finishers. The lariat and many submissions are examples of those.
